What drives you?

I’m just wondering what driver’s aide you guys use, if any, in private/freeroam/road trip?

For 99% of my activities which include but aren’t limited to: cruising and casual racing, I typically have ABS on, TCS on (varies), Manual w/o clutch, everything else off.

For the 1%, or otherwise, being [read: trying] to be competitive in a Rivals event (like a Clubbed Up event for example), Manual w/ clutch, everything off.

I use Manual w/o clutch and braking line, everything else is turned off. The only exception is with a few of my rwd S2 cars, for those I like to turn on TCS.

ABS off. Traction control off. Stability control off. Driving line off. Simulation steering on. Cosmetic damage on. Rewind off. Shifting set to manual. Drivatars at the pro level.

Question (Title): What drives you?

Answer: Usually my chauffeur, sometimes my wife, but always a gasoline powered combustion engine attached to four wheels and surrounded by opulent luxury of the British or German variety.

Now, that that’ out of the way, as for the concern regarding assists - I use no driver line, normal steering, no brake assist, no traction, no stability, and manual with clutch. For solo I use no damage and for online I use cosmetic damage.

For the transmission - automatic shifts for you al the time and does not let you hang out in a gear, rev range, or even make it through the entire rev range. Manual with clutch is best for control and I’m used to it, but manual (no clutch) is by far the easiest to learn how to drive and I’d recommend it over automatic every time (unless an event forces you to use automatic).

For brakes - personal preference, in real life all the super race cars and all that do use ABS but their systems are not what road cars get, they’re much better, and they work. This is not the real world, it’s a video game. I have done tests in FH2 regarding ABS versus no-ABS and really there is little difference for online play as to which you want to use. For rivals and fastest lap I would recommend no ABS because it will give you more control and allow for quicker lap times.

Driving Line - great in a Motorsport Title to help you learn the track. In Horizon 2 it’s frankly no good.

Damage - this is new to me as I was told only a few days ago but here goes. In Solo I use no damage because I enjoy never having my car take damage. I don’t need the extra few % I would earn from using simulation. Online, I would never ever use simulation damage (unless an event restricts it). Online I have begun using Cosmetic Damage and here is why - apparently, the vehicles object box is drawn differently when you use no damage and cosmetic damage. The No damage setting apparently does not turn damage off, what it does is it enlarges your object box to the point that it is slightly larger than your car. What this does when you play playground games or get too close to another car (such as in the pack) you can bump into people or crash without ever having visually touched them. Cosmetic damage takes this object box and shrinks it so it is slightly smaller than your car allowing you to actually hit things and take damage. The only reason I use no damage on solo is because the rewind feature exists for times I do get royall screwed due to the object box and because I like having a pristine car at all times.

What drives me: My metabolism.

What me drives: A silver 2003 Subaru Impreza Wagon.

What assists do I use in FH2: The occasional rewind.

What drives me?

I like racing games. I’ve tried a few other franchises like NFS and Project Gotham, but I’ve been with Forza since FM3.

I’ve read about drivers grinding their way through their racing careers as if motivation were a difficulty for them which is how I’m going to interpret your question.

I guess it’s the achievements that keep me going. I haven’t got them all, and I don’t care if I don’t either, but it is something that keeps me going.

More recently it’s the Forza Rewards that have been motivating me to get to higher tiers with the promise of in game credits and maybe some gift cars at release time like the ones we got when FH2 was released. Brilliant marketing that one, and a credit to T10.

Most aids are off except full line when racing in cross country races.
I hate the rewind feature as i feel it is equivelent to a cheat, I know this is not generally agreed with but that is my opinion.
