Yes, this probably a noob question, but I’m not a tuner at all. I’m just curious about what each of the different tire compunds are best for. I already know drag tires are best for drag racing, obviously. 
Depends on the car really there’s no right or wrong answer for that one I have top 200 times in cars with race tires and cars with stock tires. Lower classes suit stock tires better C class or below I’d consider stock or street B class street or sport A class sport or race generally S class you’ll want race for grip unless it’s a high speed track

Or simply put, if you’re building a grip car, tire upgrades are probably needed.
If you’re building a speed car, tires will take a backseat for power. However tire width can help in these instances.
For all other cars it’s track and car dependent. Sometimes you’ll find multiple options that work for a particular car.
