In settings under advanced video tab make sure Resolution scale is set to auto and Dynamic render quality is set to either of the following
Ultra = 4k
High= 1440p
Med= 1080p
Low = 720p
Regardless of what you have your resolution set to in the video tab the Dynamic Render Quality option actually determines what resolution your game outputs at!
So if you want 4k set Dynamic Render Quality to Ultra also make sure that you select a frame rate option that says V-sync in brackets so for example 60 (V-sync) or Unlocked (V-sync) this helps with camera stutter. Make sure once you change the graphic settings you restart the game, currently there is a bug that causes performance to get worse when you change graphic settings without rebooting the game.
I was having fps issues on a 3080 i9 9900k until I changed my Dynamic Render quality to High (1440p) and I can now run the game on max settings all the RT options on and DLSS ultra quality (DLAA) @ a locked 60fps credit goes to Digital Foundry for figuring out these weird settings.
Can a mod maybe pin this post as I’ve posted the samething on reddit and it’s helped loads of people out with regards to Performance on the PC
So, My monitor itself is 1080p (yeah I know, I have real car issues to take car of right now, digital cars can wait) . How should I set my settings so it doesn’t look potato and at least looks as good as FH5 which I do pretty much run in Ultra settings as much as possible with a few exceptions.
Am I understanding that I should:
Set Dynamic render to (?)
Put Dynamic Scale to “Auto” (I noticed once looking at it, that it was at 80%)
I just turned off v-sync to try and make things better, but it really didn’t work, so I
should turn this back on and lock myself to 60?
This!
I’ve been trying for 2 WEEKS to get this game to look anywhere near as good as it does on my XBOXX. Just this small piece of info and a light bulb went off. Sure, I’m only doing 30FPS, but its butter and it looks insanely better than my XBOXX now in 4k. Thank you! Why they made the settings page such a mystery is beyond me, or maybe I’m just too dense to see the forest for the tree.
In case anyone is wandering,
Ryzen 7 5700G with a RTX 3070.
Just now i noticed there used to be a setting called Resolution scale. And as per Digital Foundry at the time, if it was set to Auto along with Dynamic render quality at Ultra, High, Medium or Low, it would basically output 4k,1440p,1080p or 720p. As well as run every other setting set to Auto to whatever the dynamic resolution setting is set.
At some point they had this Resolution scale option removed. I did not notice when they did this. And so now i’m wondering if it’s still acts the same way? Or is it just like an internal render quality setting now?.. Separate from The final output resolution. Basically the way it should’ve worked?
For example: Your native resolution is 1440p. You set Dynamic Render Quality to Ultra. Therefore the game renders assets internally at 4k, then down-samples the image to your native res or whatever else Output resolution you might’ve chosen.
Do you also think this is how it works now? Or am i mistaken somewhere?
