Week in Review 4/11/14

Josef Newgarden isn’t an athlete? Shyeah right.

Welcome to the Week in Review for April 11, 2014. Today we recap a busy week in Forza Land, which culminated with the release of the free Long Beach circuit for all players. I hope you guys have been enjoying it so far. Who’s going to complete the Long Beach Challenge this weekend?

Great WIR article, Mech! To start, I did complete the Long Beach challenge last night, after unsuccessfully trying to break the 15k point mark on LB, but I’m not done yet. As for the “are racers athletes” debate, I heard this before involving Donovan McNabb saying Jimmie Johnson is not an athlete, and I say racers are athletes;

And speaking of racers, tomorrow is the Southern 500 at Darlington!!! And for those interested, I will post pics of the event on my flickr page and/or here on the forums!

Great week for Forza fans. I haven’t been able to race Long Beach yet, but I can’t wait. It’s an amazing track and thanks to T10 for bringing it to Forza along with the awesome car pack that accompanies it. As for racers not being athletes, that’s just a load of crap. Race car drivers are some of the most fit athletes in the world.

SpeedDemon, I’m jealous that you get to attend Darlington, but even more jealous you get to enjoy some Bojangles. I miss it so much. I’d travel back out there just for that. Dirty rice! Yummy! Have fun at the race tomorrow night.

Most racers work out so I would say that they are athletes in their own right.
Another cracking review as well.

Good review! Great stuff.

I’d say drivers are very much atheletes, we have lot’s of sports that require more metal power than physicial power (Curling, Golf). That being said I’m sure you still need to be very healthy and have a high baseline of physical ability to race professionally!

I should really pick up an Xbox One and get myself a copy of FM5, all the news about it makes me wish I had it. I only need to save up a bit more though, and then I’ll have enough money to buy it and participate in all the current challenges!

F1 racers can lose until 2kg on a single race! For this reason they have to keep excellent fisichal form, what make them real athlets! Nice read!

F1 drivers are real atlethes. Not only physical, but also in the mind.

I would most definitely say that racers are athletes. The training and physical demand of racing on the drivers is so intense. The mental concentration as well to prepare and go through the race is insane to me.

Hey!,

Racers are definitely athletes. It is Mentally straining, and surprisingly physically straining aswell. To try and turn a corner at the speed these F1 drivers are taking is a tremendous task for someone who hasn’t been behind the wheel of a true racecar. The #1 obstacle you have to get around before the corner is the fear of actually TAKING the corner at a faster speed. it can also be Physically straining aswell because these drivers can take quite a few G-Forces while ripping through these corners with a pretty high heart rate.

I wish I could take part in the long beach racing but I have yet to pick up an xbox one I hope I can get one soon. And for the race car drivers the are by far some of the most talented athletes in any sports the things have to do to win let alone finish a race in one piece is a task .

I love the track. I just got my Xbox one a little bit ago so i’m mostly still on the lower class vehicle but it’s fun to zip around the tight corners in a Mini. I still haven’t mastered the sharp roundabout turn yet and i keep ending up driving on top of the flowers. (The Long Beach gardeners must hate me)
