Manuals never pull “DSG” farts in reality. It’s completely wrong. They recorded a Mk7.5 Golf DSG as Golf fans hoped it would be a DSG version but they added one with Manual instead, which is a bad choice that Golf fans got ripped off. You defending the devs’ bad choices like this, isn’t gonna solve anything. So stop defending their lazy decisions lol, nobody wants that.

I’m not gonna call it lazy they just combined the best elements of both manual and DSG
The manual was probably the only version they could get and it would’ve been a massive process to wait for a DSG one, so it’s only half of the devs’ fault, the other half must surely have been who ever suppling the car they scanned
They added the manual because its what the Golf is known for and because it was an option in NA for the R(I am sure they are aware of the better acceleration on the DSG) but the 8.5R wont have it so both manual fans and DSG fans will be happy when we see the 8.5R and thus have both manual pre facelift R and DSG Facelift R
If we do get the GTI they should do the same thing and add the manual pre facelift to make manual Golf fans happy and the facelift with the DSG to make DSG fans happy

I do like the fact that the Golf GTI and R 8.5 still is powered by a classic engine so it still has 50% of its soul left
Its not stupid its an iconic nameplate if you look at the history of it dsgs didnt become a thing until the Golf 4 R32 and back then it was only an option in germany
Manual Golfs are just my absolute favourite they are the reason I love it and there is no alternative Golf for me I would always go for the manual
This car to me is made for purists who like fast Hatchbacks they are like practical sports cars
I will always find manual Golfs more special than their DSG versions as modern as cars have become a manual GTI or R will always be deeply in my heart
I do have a feeling this will exactly be how I predicted it manual GTI 8.0 and DSG GTI 8.5
And since the Golf R 8.5 is DSG only add the Euro Spec! This is the moment to bring it back since all Golf R 8.5s including NA are DSG only

The thing that made me happy as to why it was US Spec is because of the manual but now that the US Spec will also be DSG only(because of emissions lol) I guess it makes sense to go for the Euro Spec Golf R 8.5
The us version of this is useless since it makes the same power output as the regular R we have ingame and the european version has more power but the Golf R 8.5 arrived so I would just focus on the facelifted R

I am too but this generation will at the same time make both manual Golf fans happy and DSG fans happy since the Golf R 8.0 is manual and the 8.5 will be DSG so its a perfect 50/50 and at least the 8.5 still has an engine

Honestly a manual pre facelift GTI would make much more sense since the 8.5 killed the traditional
GTI and it should be ingame as a tribute to the original GTI Golf 8.0 R and 8.0 GTI are the only performance Golf 8s with manuals to begin with so its still dominated by DSGs( R Variant 8.0/8.5, R 8.5, GTI 8.5, GTI Clubsport 8.0/8.5 etc)even if we get a manual GTI so both manual and DSG fans will be happy in my opinion Volkswagen has lost their minds by killing the manual GTI… at this point the GTI is DEAD Rest in peace
It is the best they could do to remove the manual. The clutch is a drag and the DSG is much faster and more effective. the golf 8r record were all with the dsg. If they put a GTI in, let it be a clubsport 8 or clubsport 8.5 or the 8.5r since they are only dsg
