For one, I’d like to say that the game essentially runs fine for me. I don’t encounter framerate issues, and I haven’t experienced any crashes…apart from some of the cancerous players, but that’s a different topic. However, in the tradition of not having things work properly on PC, there are two distinct visual problems I’ve had since launch that bug the s**t outta me. For one, the Ultrawide 21:9 aspect ratio is all jacked up. ALL menus display large black bars on either side of the screen. Its not really a problem, just a bit annoying. Fortunately, the aspect ratio does work while racing.
For those who can’t get Ultrawide to work while racing, this is old news, but I’ll put it out again anyways. Go to resolution settings, and change 2560x1080/3440x1440 (whichever your monitor is) and push all the way to the lest to “Native Resolution.” For whatever reason (s***ty PC port) that just works.
However, like I said, it doesn’t work everywhere. I find it particularly annoying that it does not work properly in Photo Mode. While taking the picture, the black bars will be displayed on either side of the screen, giving me a 16:9 aspect. Once I take the picture, it’ll be saved in a 21:9 ratio, showing what was behind those black bars. As if that wasn’t enough, it also misplaces the watermark and displays the sliders. Here’s an example.
What really confuses me is that Horizon 3 had none of these problems. I was perfectly capable of taking great pictures of my hideous cars, and none of the menus did some s**t where the crop nearly half my screen.
Second, and as I’ve recently been told, apparently this is not just a PC issue, why is it that I can’t see other people’s liveries when racing online? The picture with the Pink Porshe was from an offline race. There, I can see paint jobs just fine. Online however, everyone’s car only gets the “factory” paint.
Does anyone know of fixes for this or potential causes? Are they something Turn 10 is working on?
