When Forza 5 came out, I download the VIP membership for it on my profile. Another family member on their profile tried to access a VIP only rivals event, but the game told them they had to purchase the VIP Membership to do so. When the in game offer to purchase the VIP came up, they selected it, and they were immediately sent to the VIP Membership in the XBox Store. The Store said it was already purchased, so they selected launch. when they got back to the game, nothing had changed. They still weren’t a VIP and they still couldn’t access the VIP rivals events. Since then, there’s always a bickering between me and the other family member on who gets to be the VIP. One the XBox 360, both profiles could buy the VIP membership and get the all the benefits. But on the XBox One has a fail safe that won’t allow multiples profiles to purchase the same content. Meaning only one profile can get the VIP Membership and get all the benefits. Sure, the other profile can use the VIP cars. But the other profile can’t do the VIP Rivals, it doesn’t receive the VIP gift cars, and whatever other benefits the VIP Membership offers for the particular Forza it is for. The XBox One was an expensive upgrade for us, and we really can’t afford to buy a second. So why can’t the VIP Membership be shared fully among multiple profiles like all other Forza DLC, or for that matter, be shared like all XBox One DLC? Why can’t the second profile buy a second VIP Membership at a lower price (since the first profile already downloaded it) so both profiles get full VIP benefits?
Because Gamertag profiles can bounce from console to console, any attempt to offer such a discount would be abused. Unfortunately, VIP is just one of those things that – like consumable DLC – must be relegated to a single profile.
Since it’s an account transaction it may be up to Xbox, or because it affects gamesave it may be up to Turn 10. The sharing comes into play by allowing a user who hasn’t purchased the content to still access it by buying the cars from the Autoshow. But where the first-time buy is free for VIP owners, it may be held back from other accounts to avoid affecting the economy. Or it may just be to promote the exclusivity of being a VIP. If you want to pass on your suggestion to Turn 10 I would suggest emailing forzafb@microsoft.com
I have purchased the deluxe pack of FM6 with this account however, I have another account (gamer tag) which I use for gaming and I would like the VIP pass to be tied to that ID.
How can this be achieved?
I believe that two profiles can have their own VIP, but the second person needs to purchase it online and not directly on the xbox. I read about this on the forum yesterday, so I cannot confirm if it’s true.
Redeemed my Ultimate edition code whilst logged in on my sons account. Now playing with my own account I don’t have the VIP perks applied, most importantly the cash bonus.
When I go to the store I’m told it’s already installed.
This comes from having the profile that has VIP already signed in in the background. If you go and sign that profile out you should be able to purchase it on the Xbox Store. A problem on microsofts side of the deal, not T10’s.
I tried several of the suggestions - no luck. Maybe It is because it isn’t released to the general public yet? I’ll cross my fingers and try again next week.
That’s correct. You can’t purchase the same content via the console for different profiles, but you can do so using xbox.com or smartglass. Once it’s actually released, you should be able to purchase it using one of those methods.
I had bought forza motorsport 6 on the xbox but using my fathers account. It gives my dad vip but not me, anyone know why this happened and how i can solve it???
“Secondary profiles on a shared XBL Gold member console will be able to access DLC cars in the game without purchasing the pack, but gamesave benefits may only be available to the account that purchased the pack. As a result, secondary profiles may not have the one-time-for-free tag for DLC cars, access VIP Rivals events, receive the VIP bonus or VIP gift cars, and the VIP icon.”
