Newbie here with a question. I bought my son a VIP membership by clicking on a DLC car and selecting Buy VIP Membership. I’ m jealous of all the points he is earning and would like to buy a second VIP membership with my gamer tag. The problem is it won’t work the second time around by selecting. DLC car and I can’t seem to figure out how to do it. Can we have two VIP memberships on two separate gamer tags if I buy both? If so, how? Thank you!
I would guess that you just go to the store from the xbox dashboard whilst signed in to the profile you want the vip pass for, search game add on for Forza 5 & buy it from there, that’s how I bought my vip pass.
It seems to be the same issue with having the same DLC bought for two accounts as on the Xbox 360.
I’m not 100% on this since I don’t know the One as well as the 360 but I guess it is.
The likely problem:
When your first account downloaded the VIP membership, it downloaded a file (DLC) that the game recognizes and therefore allows the VIP benefits.
However, that DLC is linked to only one profile, which is the one that bought it.
Usually, when you buy DLC, all the gamertags on your console can use it as it is registered to the console.
However with DLC like this, which grants the benefits only to the owner, you run into a little problem:
When you want your second profile to have VIP benefits, you will need to buy it with it of course.
However, the VIP membership DLC is already installed and recognized by the game, therefore it tells you that it is already installed even though not by your second account.
If it is available, you should try to buy the VIP membership trough the Xbox Marketplace (if it is available there), but you will probably still encounter a problem:
On the 360 and I assume on the One as well, a DLC file can only be on a storage device once, so if you are eventually able to buy the VIP membership with your second account, one of two things are most likely going to happen:
a) You buy it, but the DLC won’t be downloaded as it is already there on the hard drive.
This would mean it is still linked to your first account and you won’t be able to get the benefits.
b) It will re-download the DLC and it will be linked to your second account.
However, since the file can only be there once, your first account will lose access.
So, what could you do?
Well you won’t be able to get over the aforementioned limitations (unless it works very differently from what I described, which I doubt).
One way to handle this (even though it will be probably quite annoying) is to wait for the Xbox Dashboard update coming this tuesday as it will provide a storage management system.
With this being included, you should be able to delete the VIP Membership DLC.
Now, if your first account wants to play it, you would need to re-download the DLC with this account to grant access to it.
If you want to use your second account afterwards, you would need to delete that DLC and re-download it with your second account then.
And vice versa of course, meaning the current account playing is deleting and re-downloading the DLC if the other one used it before.
That’s what I meant with “quite annoying” but up to now it’s the only possibiliy I see to use VIP with multiple accounts.
It would be easier of course if Turn10 would make it a general use type DLC which every other one is.
Or if Microsoft eventually implements support for USB storage devices, you could have one VIP DLC on the hard drive for your first account and one on the USB drive for your second account.

Back after a couple months and i see VIP is still tied to 1 gamertag per console and NO option of buying it for myself. Will this ever be Fixed? Thx
The solution seems to be changing your setting to “this is not my Home console” before attempting to purchase it. Have you tried that?
Will that in any way mess up the VIP purchased on the other gamertag? Thx

Has anyone figured out if or how you can purchase more than 1 vip or carpack on 1 xbox one? i bought the game and my sons account is on the xboxone as well and he purchased the all carpack pack and now i can’t buy it for myself, i realize i can buy the cars but i don’t get the free ones.
Well the car packs are fine on any gamertag. The free cars you can get with the VIP. Post #8 of this thread has a link explaining how to get another VIP on the same console.

hi there, i need your help, i was playing at my cousins house and i decided to buy a VIP DLC with my account (on his XBOX One Console) and i pay for but when i was back in my place and updated from the cloud i realised that i was not receiving the double of the credits i was receiving when i was playing on my cousins console. how can i fix this ??? pleas HELP !!!
If the console assigned the VIP purchase to your cousin’s account, there may be no way to transfer it to your account - you may just have to purchase it on your console again (maybe get your cousin to reimburse you). You could try seeing if signing out and removing your account from his console has any effect. The basic way to tell who the VIP belongs to is to see which gamertag has a crown icon next to the name on the leaderboards and in lobbies.
