Valkyrie Challenge

This series was a mess. It is pretty clear that nobody in the development of this series bothered to test it, especially with a controller. With a controller the Valkyrie is absolute junk, from the random oversteer to the inability to put any type of power down in 1st or 2nd gear to the very inconstant breaking it is just garbage. The series of races didn’t help either. In 3 of the 5 races the car leaves the track while starting the practice sessions, how does this even happen? 2 of the 5 races are in the wet, why does this game like wet races so much? Every series seems to have multiple wet events and every race after your first free race event is wet. I think the best part was I was just so sick of this series after Silverstone that I set up the events on full assist. The best/worst part of this was that I still needed to race Nurburgring because the computer would crash entering the final series of turns and was unable to extract itself. In Yas Marina the fully assist mode would on every lap leave the circuit on turn 12 and on 3 of the laps leave on turn 17.

I had thought that the Legacy Hatch was the worse series but this has been the only one in which I felt the need to stop playing.

yeah, that vehicle took some time to tune out the massive oversteer both corner entry and exit. but once that was fixed the vehicle is a true track star and enjoyable to drive. %hit tons of grip!!

Purists probably aren’t going to like this, but once I applied the AWD conversion, this car was transformed and very stable.

the trick is never go below third gear, and be gentle but firm on the brakes. this has been one of the best cars i’ve driven in this game so far. yes i use a controller and no assists.

The purists can take a flying leap with the elitists. I’m not even going to mention how I did it, it’s nobody’s business but mine. But I got the Pagani and that’s all I care about so :rofl::call_me_hand::+1:

I loved this car. Once the race tyres are fitted anyway. the grip is mind blowing at high speeds. Tc is a must and alleviates certainly 2nd gear issues. First can be skipped the fuel bug is annoying and yet another example of poor QC though

I keep my TC in the slot where I used to keep my Amex card and never leave home without it!:rofl::call_me_hand::+1:

You’re kidding yourself. It doesn’t have grip.

Do you use third person view?

I use cockpit dash (wheel user) and the Pagani has a massive roll cage strut on the left adding to the already thick frame such that I couldn’t see the apex of any left hand turn…

It will now sit and rot in my garage.

Have you messed with the FOV settings? I don’t know where mine are but I didn’t mind the view from the second cockpit view. I only use one of three views, the two cockpit views or the hood view.

I think Forza messed up with closed cockpit modern LMP1 type vehicles. The valkyrie feels like it’s got the grip to enter fast corners flat out, but the back steps out when you do. You have to treat it like any other hypercar. Once you do that you’ll find it has massive amounts of grip compared to other hypercars, and is actually faster than modern LMP1 cars.

Do you use ABS because the brakes are consistent and OP without it even in the wet. Once you find the car’s limits, it’s actually pretty ludicrous in high speed corners. Don’t use 1st gear, and only use 2nd if it’s a really tight hair pin, ease on to the throttle, and it sticks.

Definitely a blast to drive on controller if you pay attention and find the do’s and dont’s of the car. You can’t just throw it around, and mash the gas and brake, and max lock high speed corners, it takes a little finesse compared to other cars in the game.

Forza messed up high speed cornering for modern high downforce cars though. The rear shouldn’t brake loose at speed, you should just understeer off track.

Still, driving this VS the Ginetta LMP1/Porsche LMP1 is night and day which puts this car closer to the Formula 1 cars which is no where near true IRL.

They did the same thing in GT7 apparently. It’s setting F1 like times when upgraded.

TLDR; Once you find the do’s and dont’s of the car, your times will tumble. It’s a cheat code how fast it is around circuits.

XSX/Controller/Cockpit-View/TC Disabled/ABS Enabled player for context but I didn’t have much issue with the car in stock form other than the rear being a bit floaty at speed. I increased the rear downforce and that helped a bit.

For the most part it was just me adjusting to driving a much more powerful car than I’m used to in the game and modulating my controller input (especially throttle) but once I got the hang of that I found it quite enjoyable.

Naturally, after some race tyres and a couple of other upgrades it drove really nicely.

Never really used 1st gear, often 2nd was as low as I went and short shifted to 3rd out of a lot of corners to keep traction whilst accelerating.

Did have the occasional bout of nasty snap oversteer though that caught me out a couple of times

With max downforce settings, lowered rear ARB and anti-dive it felt pretty stable. The aero grip is really good but it’s lacking mechanical grip.

…Holy carp, this is bad. Holy Carp Almighty, this car is bad.

Between this car, the McLaren Sabre, and…well, just about every other car in this game, Turn 10 needs to make it a point to hire people who actually play their game to help them make sense of this physics model, because I’m not convinced even they know what the hell is going on.

Might upset the purists but converting to AWD and moving it into R class makes this car competative online, even on sport tires.

Suffers on the straights but makes up for it in the corners and is incredibly easy to drive.

Can you expand on this please, what do you mean two step behavior, and how does zeroing out the anti dive squat help?

Thank you!

same experience here. it is one of the best cars in the game.
