Upgraded the sim rig

Went from a couch to a full seat,
Way better, didn’t realize how how I was working to keep the old setup from moving around.

Nice set-up!
Man cave or - I really hope not - family room?

Next thing is a new wheel…right? Get a used Fanatec and you’ll never look at the toy wheels again.

Sorry Kiddo’s your on the side and a little behind now cause I’m going to be putting down some serious lap times… and don’t even think about giving me a haircut whilst I’m racing!

Wheel was a gift from my wife for Christmas. It’s on the list for an upgrade but it needs to stay around awhile. Been looking into fanatec, seems I can get a PlayStation base, an Xbox wheel and I can use it on PC, PS and Xbox.

Going to work on some other upgrades, been playing with simhub. Ordered a couple bass shaker, might actually do 2 more and go for all corners.

I use Phillips hue game sync I’m my office where my PC is. Already have some hue in that room. I’m thinking mini PC so I can game stream in the room for hue sync and control sim hub. Use an android tablet mounted to the rig for radar, gauges etc. also then I can remote into the mini PC.

I warned my wife when I opened it up, that it was going to get out of hand and that’s why I hadn’t bought a wheel yet.:rofl:

Your sim is in a car? I need to see more.

Nah just added for a laugh, tho that second pic looks like it’s a sim rig, might have to see if I can remember where I grabbed it from

Definitely lose the wheel and hands, will feel more natural, only downside is you may lose part of the mirrors.

This is where the game really needs adjustable driving positions

FOV is at max and it’s already too big how close I sit, it’s a 77" TV. Plus I’m starting to be able to see the pixels.

I would also need to raise the TV.

Eventually I’m going to get a standalone setup, but this works.

The actual wheel isn’t in my peripherals, so this feels more natural.

Maybe I’ll run it on my PC, change to to ultrawide which would raise it and adjust my FOV at the same time

Judging by your picture above, if you’re going for as close to realism as possible, that FOV seems a bit off, considering where your seating position is.

Don’t know if you have access to an FOV calculator, but here are a couple of links. Some of the games they refer to are a bit dated, but the technique and information is sound:

Well aware of what FOV is and how to adjust it, I need more and I’ve got it at max. It’s a 77" TV, sit any closer and the resolution becomes grainy

It is a Sony OLED, so I can make the screen as small as a 32 " if I want, but then it’s too low. When I play destiny I shrink it, the FOV in that game I find off putting on the massive screen, and I can’t get the correct FOV. CoD is fine though.

From the couch I’m less than 8’ to the screen.

Next couple years I’ll go triple 32’s or 55’s and do it proper, for now I’m happy with this.
