Upgrade Progression

Yes there is a solution. Either abolish the nonsense or make it optional. 99% of us aint got time for this ridiculous horse manure nonsense nor do we want it. They 100% knew better than to do some sb like this. Its even worse than that homologation crap in 7. We dont need tokens or vouchers or this or that or some other silly stuff…Play career…win races…win money…buy cars…buy parts…Its not rocket science. If we or you wanna play an rpg go play elden ring or skyrim or fallout etc etc et…also not rocket science. Racing games are not rpg’s.

We could get real technical about what RPG actually entails. And how in the context of cars. Roll playing would be better suited from games designed like GTA, or like Project Cars or Assetto Corsa Competitzion. Where you can actively play through a large chunk of what those cars actually authentically do. And what the drivers do.
(Forgot to do my standard second pass for this comment:)
But I know that wasnt really what you were referring to and just being cleaver.
The TL;DR of the OP was that I think its good they’re trying something different. It was clear 5 months ago that this was not going to be the final version and that this wouldn’t be very fun to do in its first iteration. At this point, I have no idea what they’re going to wind up doing with this system. And after seeing how little work went into the actual features for the end user to play with, Im firmly in the camp of just reverting back to Cr and no progression. Novel idea, try again next time maybe. Innovation could indeed be dead though.

Nope, Not even remotely relevant to why AAA games are being called “incomplete”.
The reason you’re hearing this is because in nearly every case, missing core features that any basic game should have. Starfield: A map, Battlefield 2049: A scoreboard, FM’23: Racecar races in singleplayer of a racecar track game.
This isnt a matter of not getting everything on our Christmas wish list. Its a matter of buying a new car from a dealer and its missing the engine and wheels.

This would be an easy fix for them and probably take care of most of the complaints about the existing system. You could get enough car XP after a few laps in any car to do the upgrades that you need or want. Instead of some of them which are gated at much higher levels.

It would be interesting to hear if people would be accepting of this and we can push for this as a request.

All you have to do is save a different tune with different equipment for different tracks and even name it as such. Considering that car upgrades are completely refundable, it’s actually much easier to have multiple tunes of a car versus buying multiple cars and buying multiple part like on previous games. This is probably the single only real benefit I see of the new system.

I’m not sure why people are calling this game an RPG. Anyway… is anyone looking for a leveling buddy or are there any guilds recruiting new drivers?

These games are supposed to allow me to do what I cannot do in real life. Buy, upgrade, tune, and race my favorite cars. Instead, it mimics real life with a long list of what I can’t do.

The only grind necessary is paying the $100 for the game. After that, I want to do what I paid for.

Well honestly it’s the opposite of real life, don’t know anyone who drives their car to unlocked upgrades. Nor do they have a different currency from money they earn from racing/job to buy the parts online or at the store. This system would be way better if it was 100% based off real life.

Absolutely not, man honestly I personally loved the goal of reaching these cars in older games. For me it was an achievement to get one of these high price cars, with the auction house missing it would mean even more now.

I would gladly give up having Ferrari in the game if they pulled a “Oh, our brand has to be the hero brand and it has to be the most exclusive and saught after in the game under our licensing”

But I think the balancing of race payouts and car prices are actually well done here for once. They controlled the economy earnings by getting rid of random rewards and level up bonuses and just having race payouts count. Races feel like they pay a good chunk of money compared to the mean average of car price. And since you’re not hoarding money away for upgrades, you do actually feel like winning an average 15 minute race getting one eighth the price of the most expensive cars is a pretty healthy reward. Feels like you had a measurable payday towards something you want.

Once you have all the cars that goes away of course, But thats sort of the case in all the games. You just spend the cash on upgrades then. But someone calculated it was like 83M to buy out the current garage. So thats going to take a bit.

The crew is rpg :joy: grind for cars, then grind for parts…and then reroll and waste more resources to get bonuses you want

Yeah I get what you’re saying, honestly I do think the payouts are close to perfect now that the game doesn’t pour credits on you. However I still like the prices realistic and that’s just me, 80% of the cars would be at or below the highest price of the cars in the game currently so it would still be balanced. The other 20% could have their spotlight week and also be prizes for endurance and high end series. It’s been done before and it’s extremely satisfying when you win. Without the auction house the higher price cars wouldn’t be a credit exploit either, he’ll just remove the option to sell these one win cars while we are at it.

Wouldn’t it be better if they pushed you towards spending time with cars by offering a vast amount of events + championships though?

I’m sure you’re in the minority driving cars completely stock as well, as soon as you upgrade with those initial car points you’re given that bit is gone, I get what they were going for but honestly how many of us in the 18 years of FM/11 years of FH have ever wondered what our let’s say…D350 car would be like at D357 or D382 instead of the top of the class? Even though we have been free to check that out for ourselves throughout those years?

The game does not have enough content in the form of different tracks + events yet at the same time has too many cars to make the system properly work + take players down the path they want it to, this kind of system in a game with this many cars needs a GT4, FM3 or FM4 amount of events to go along with it for it to work effectively.

Imagine if it did and a good chunk of cars could get to level 50 simply by virtue of there being 4-6 championships available for them that would naturally take you to it by the time you’d completed them all, I think there would be a lot less backlash towards it, and the whole idea of spending time with 1 car, going on a journey with it, building a rapport with it etc would all come together so much better.

Instead now what you’ve got is people spending bulks of their time in the game either grinding the levels out themselves on the best courses to maximise the Car XP gain or simply not playing the game at all and AFK’ing their way through the levels.

Honestly I have said it a few times now I really do think the people who decided on this + many other things in this game are neither gamers nor car/racing enthusiasts themselves, because I’d like to believe anyone from those groups wouldn’t be capable of coming up with the bad ideas or lacklustre implementations that are present in the game.

I’m very surprised that the lastest Forza Motorsport update addressed the incredibly slow Car Leveling progression and cut most part unlock levels by half. I believe that us discussing it here and in other threads/Suggestions have had an impact on this.

It absolutely IS because of this community sharing its opinion of the system. The suggestions hub works, we need to keep making our opinions known and create polls/other ways then just plain ole discussions so that Turn10 knows exactly what we want. After we do that the ball is in their court if they want to let this game die or not. I personally want to help it succeed as an OG Forza Player.

they dont care about anything we say here, otherwise fujimi wouldve been in every game since FM4

I tend to trust mods that have a direct line of contact with the developers. As community managers it’s like kinda their job to tell T10 what we think but I understand the frustration. Fujimi should be in the works if the developers desire this game to be popular with the community, however it’s a huge track with a lot of details to be worked. Hopefully it is coming and if it does it will be massive!

Only for you.

This isn’t reality. Cars aren’t trophies. Don’t gatekeep other people’s fun.

I was gonna go with Sympathy for the Devil, but even that feels like too high a bar for some people to achieve
