Upgrade car physics - weight transfer and tire slip

FM´s physics is extremely sophisticated like or even better than other Sims, but it leaves too much room for driving „errors“ by being too forgiving

Two upgrade can improve that

1.Increase the feeling of the car´s weight transfer

  1. leaving unchanged the point where the tires completely lose grip, „increase“ the point where the tires start to slip, basically the “area” where the tires slip until they lose grip completely should be much “thinner” in order to have a more “realistic” feeling of the car´s physics, or better said, more “similar” to other simulations, whose success depends on this very feeling

“FM” has everything that all other Sims lack, because they only focus on one aspect of Motorsport. Making the feel of the car´s physics extremely “close” to that of other Sims like AC, LFM, AM2, ACC etc, FM would lose the “reputation” of ‘arcade’ and gain that of “Simulation” thus attracting more „Sim“-drivers, increasing the total number of players

idk, but AMS2 and ACC have a very different driving feel from each other and LFM is a multiplayer service and not a game.
If FM changes its iconic physics to something more realistic, they will also loose players and not just win new sim-racers. And most sim-racing enthusiast wouldn’t necessarily criticize the physics of the game, but much more the lack of BoP in multiplayer, the vage penalty system, driver rating and the overall lack of competition in this game.

The physics are honestly the best part of this “sim-cade” title and a major reason why so many people started playing this franchise, including the Horizon titles.

There are obviously major criticism points about the physics, like certain curbs that fling you car to the moon and those should definitely be fixed.

Thanks for your answer, well.. FM will also loose players.. sure, they will gain “more”? Probably..
Kunos Simulazioni is doing exactly that, and when it releases a title … well.. it usually nail it.. It probably did extensive “marketing” research to decide to make such a title..

then the fact that FM also has other problems should not discourage at least the attempt to improve

FM´s physics is extremely fun and well done but this very fact of “defining” it as “sim-cade” is why “upgrading” it might be the right direction… (also seeing how the racing games landscape is evolving)..

it could also be tried progressively to see the general response…

after all, FM is already losing players as the average is going down… why not give it a try?

Kunos Simulazioni did not “nail” AC and neither ACC, both games had struggles in the beginning and AC never really got to a point where the playerbase would describe the physics as “whole”.
With ACC they did a better job, but when the 1.9 Update rolled out with “improved” and “more realistic” physics, a big part of the player base stopped playing the game as it just didn’t feel how it used to. A lot of people now prefer LMU over ACC, not only because they have newer content, but especially because the driving feeling is pretty awesome.

I wouldn’t say that going from sim-cade to hardcore sim is an improvement, it’s just a change. Forza already is a simulation, only on the less realistic and more forgiving side, therefore “-cade”.

I think changing the physics is such a nuanced and subjective part, the devs should keep their fingers from that. In best case they can improve a few things and in worst case they can make a community part their way to other titles.

When I say “I’d rather have them fix other parts of the game” it’s because other things objectively need to be fixed, while physics has a lot to do with how people subjectively feel about what’s realistic and what feels good.
