Update 6 penalty system may make break checking popular

It the players responsibility to drive at the speed the car is capable of or get out of the way. Its not about “intent”. If the line is yellow on a turn that means you can go at current speed fine, period. If the player breaks hard and causes a crash that’s on them. The same if the guy behind slams into you when the line is red. Its pure math and MPH.

The player is supposed to make the car go as fast as possible within the limits of the car they are driving. Thats racing. If you can’t or won’t do that then get out of the way or don’t race. The end.

The whole post especially this part is spot on. Most of the time its the guy behind at fault but the person in front can be penalized if they excessively go slower than they could be. That of course can be open to interpretation which is why races have ‘stewerds’ to decide.

I did a free play race last night and i did notice the penalty system was infact stricter but im a clean racer most of the time. And in my eyes the Ai is a bit better, not as much grouping together so hey i will take any small improvements love the new car system fix though.

I’d like to see that happen. Add pitlane drive throughs, and stop in pit and serve penalty time as optional settings too.

no. the penalty system is abject trash. it is the primary reason i have stopped playing and i will not come back until and unless it is done away with. it can never, ever be a good system, it is bad from first principles and is implemented even worse than that implies.

i got penalized so many times by hitting someone who was crashing that i could not avoid, or by other people intentionally taking me out, or by driving off the track to avoid an otherwise unavoidable collision. i saw other people get penalized by so many mistakes that other people made, i saw so many intentional wreckers get off scott free. it is just absolutely terrible on every conceivable level, and worst of all, it does absolutely nothing whatsoever to discourage people from wrecking others or from making really bonheaded divebombs and other low% moves. it needs to be gone.

System is worser than before.
Coming from a Silverstone race and had S rating before. A guy from behind ramming trough the field with no penalty. He divebombed me and i bump the car in front slightly:
4.5 seconds after two corners. I skip the race and have yet a B rating.

Hey T10. If you plan to destroy the game completely and send the rest of normal gamers away, youre on a fantastic way. Its enough, fix that or diseable it.

Not exactly 100% correct. Blocking is a perfectly viable tactic in racing. And the driver behind will do their part in avoiding the collision. It’s all part of good driving. And part of good driving is being able to out drive the lead driver and get by the blocking tactics.

As far as the AI goes, if they would program proximity detection into the AI it would or should cut down on the AI ramming.

The only way to cut down on the human ramming is for drivers to understand racing etiquette and be decent on the track. Or they could program proximity detection into human cars just like modern cars have lane detection. If you get too close to another car, proximity detection takes over and you’re no longer driving your car until your proximity bubble is clear.

The new system is MUCH BETTER! Multiplayer is better now. After playing for several hours, I find that rewarding violators for several seconds works well in multiplayer. The system rewards you for being precise and well evaluated! More and more people are playing regularly.

You sound like you haven’t played FM7 - or, on the contrary, you enjoy “racing” with no rules or track limits whatsoever with people cutting through grass every chance they get. System needs to improve, not to be gone.

The problem is, the whole game is designed around this broken penalty system. To be honest yeah i would prefer to don’t have these “rules” because it’s just frustrating to cut a little bit unintentionaly the track, and get a 1sec penalty when that cut doesn’t make you win time, in fact i actually loose time when it happen, for the most. But i still get that unfair penalty

dude, i have been with this series since the very first game. and strangely enough, the lack of a penalty system did not make forzas 1 through 6 into a lawless mad max wasteland. in fact, the driving standards in this game are, by a very wide margin, the worst in the series, many many times worse than they ever were at the series’ peak with 3 and 4, and the people largely responsible for this do not care one bit if they are penalized. the penalty system is a clear failure to make the racing cleaner and it is more likely to unfairly punish people who did nothing wrong than to penalize someone who both deserves a penalty and actually cares at all that they got one.

again, the penalty system needs to go. it is bad at what it is intended to do, and the notion that it can ever be good, or even acceptable, at its job is pure fantasy.

I fully agree, but finding cars coming in hot as long as they nose past you before contact, you get the penalty.

I didn’t even realize there was am official change, but definitely noticed some aggressive penalties.

Career mode especially, the AIs insane braking has given me huge penalties, where before if I was at least trying to slow, I got nothing.

But I had figured out how to beat the system, light brake on contact, no pen, leave the track and lift, no pen.
So I’m sure others had too.

That is just untrue and Nostalgia messing with your memory. Both FM3 & 4 were destruction derbies. So were the old Gran Turismos.

The side swiping change this patch is not working right. Pretty much all hits on the side penalise the wrong player.

they were not even close to as bad as this game. like, i had over 1700 hours in fm4, most of it online, and i would absolutely not have put that many hours in if the driving standards were even half as bad as they are in fm23. neither then nor now do i have the patience for it.

the driving standards got worse in fm5 and fm6, and then absolutely nosedived when they started tossing these games onto gamepass.

Slammed from behind. I get a 4 sec and at least it gave him 6 sec. Went from S to A for one penalty. ONE. Give me a break. Adjust this system. Don’t ignore it completely like you do in Horizon 5. They are very different but they both need major work. This is ridiculous. The ratings don’t seem to mean anything at all. What’s the point if it’s meaningless??? My friend dropped to an E. Guess what same people. These are just fake ratings. Absolutely despicable and lazy. Tired of repeating myself. Just get it done already. :man_facepalming:

Giving the penalty to the player behind is a much better choice than trying to penalize both. ACC does that and all it does is convince the players that somehow the other car is to blame. They’ll seriously say it’s your fault for driving too slow in front of them. I find the gameplay on Forza much better. ACC is also full of players ramming the others from behind, they’re just somehow convinced this is ok because the other car shares the penalty.
