FEATURES / CHANGES

Below is an overview of the changes and improvements included with Update 18:

Car Audio

  • Audio changes for the 1998 Toyota Supra RZ and 2020 Toyota GR Supra intended for Update 17 are included in Update 18.
  • For additional information on how we’re updating the car sounds of Forza Motorsport, check out this blog, adapted from a presentation and AMA (“ask me anything”) hosted in the Forza Official Discord with the Turn 10 audio team.

Matchmaking

  • We’ve made improvements to Multiplayer matchmaking services in Forza Motorsport with the intended effect of improving population of lobbies. We recently tested these changes with participants in our Forza Insiders Program and are now rolling them out to all players with Update 18.

Race Event Length

  • Increased race duration of ‘Short’ length races from 8 minutes to 10 minutes in Featured Multiplayer. Also, we’ve updated the Event schedule timing for ‘Short’ and ‘Medium’ length races to slightly increase the amount of time between races based on player feedback.

HDR

  • For some HDR displays, the game would automatically configure its HDR Brightness value below 1,000 nits which made the highlights in the image look flat and clamped. The fix prevents the game from automatically configuring the value below 1,000 even if the display metadata reports that its peak luminance is under 1,000.

HUD - Lap Info

  • We’ve enabled the Lap counter in the HUD during Timed Races, which includes Practice as well as Multi-Class Races for easier lap tracking. In addition, Last Lap / Best Lap has also been enabled in the HUD during Timed and Multi-Class Races.

Rivals

  • An improved Rival select system changes how friends and random players are prioritized as your Next Rival when there are no more friends to beat on the event’s leaderboard or when your next friend’s best lap time is exceedingly faster than yours, while ensuring each new Rival presents a decent challenge.

Nice selection of new cars and yay the Cadillac is available with this one too!

Looking like another exciting month of zero changes to single player. Still gonna have some invisible AI in practice, and the same fields to battle in the open tour.

Yay.

Hi @T10ManteoMax . The picture of the oreca 07 in the article is the 2017 model.
Please fix it.
Thank you.

The QoL changes are pretty good. Finally lap times in Multi-Class and 10 minutes short races may be enough to prevent soft tires at the higher classes.
The cars are neat but I really hope the two Lamborghini and the Porsche will be more competitive unlike most other modern supercars.

  • We’ve enabled the Lap counter in the HUD during Timed Races, which includes Practice as well as Multi-Class Races for easier lap tracking. In addition, Last Lap / Best Lap has also been enabled in the HUD during Timed and Multi-Class Races.

Yes. More QoL features would be very good. :slightly_smiling_face:

A whole lot of nothing. Game is in maintenance mode.

Another month where I expected nothing and we got something so I’m happy.

Interesting to see how the 2 extra minute’s affect soft race tyres.

Great news about the increased time between races too.

And it’s here !

Something just occurred to me. Velocity month. In a racing game.

Isn’t every month Velocity month? Bizzare. Might be just me!?

most cars will have to stick to mediums now and a few of the ultra light op meta cars still can do softs on some tracks. making races 1 to 2 laps longer (depending on track) without touching the tire wear scale was an awful decision.

The update is now available to install. As always, we recommend quitting out of the game and restarting your device both before and after an update to prompt the install and clear any bugs.

If any bugs persist, report them in the Motorsport Troubleshooting > FM Report New Issues or Motorsport Troubleshooting > FM Car Issues Troubleshooting Hub.

After updating, the current game version is *.773.5588.0

lol not a single car model fixed. Game is reaching EOL.

What’s awful about?

I would be interested in T10s reasoning behind the decision. What are they trying to achieve?

It’s funny isn’t it? In the last update they said they updated the sound of the 2 Toyotas but they actually did include the changes now in Update 18 lol.

Fix the horrendous penalty system in multiplayer for god’s sake
