Unicorn Cars...

Hello everyone (I’m new here),

I think about buying FM7 Ultimate, but I am still undecided. One thing that keeps me restrained is the whole unicorn thing. As far as I read, gift cars like bounty hunter rewards, league rewards and contest prizes can not be bought on the auctionhouse. Is there any information whether there will be a second chance to get these cars (like Lykan Hypersport, Audi TT RS, Ferrari Scaglietti, Focus RS, Camaro SuperSport, etc) in the future? Even if I started playing regularly now, I will have a clinic stay of at least 8 weeks next february/march, so I would be missing many cars and events again. I just want to know, cause if all these cars really are one shots, I wont bother getting the game, cause I’m not paying 100 bucks for a game that advertises itself with having over 700 cars, when in the end players that paid full price but aren’t playing every week from release day are locked out of 50 of these cars…

I come from Horizon 3 and what I liked most about it was collecting all cars (which I did) and then racing them all at least once. There were no locked cars in the car dealer, and when I missed a forzathon car, i could just buy it in the AH. Unhappy to see FM7 takes a different approach here.

If there are several chances to get the unicorns I will buy the game right away. If this has not been clarified yet, I’ll probably wait and do nothing until further notice.

The game is not perfect but they are constantly working on it. Most cars that have been through one type of method to obtain have shown up in others since not everyone is a 1% top of the tree driver or had a decade with the game. I only started this racing stuff in April and in this game I have all but a couple of the cars currently available. I think if you buy the game you will enjoy it. On level up and as you work through the career you get cars thrown at you left right and center. I still have not even used 3/4 of them.

Unless I’m mistaken, only 4 cars have repeated in the Speciality Dealer, and none of them have been Bounty Hunter cars. 3 being previous SD cars, and one being a Halloween Bash car.

Not if they were never available in the Speciality Dealer. Anything that wasn’t paid for with credits cannot be sold in the AH.

And if you miss all of the opportunities through sheer bad luck, or through buying the game a bit later? (which I’d blame nobody for, given the state this game launched in…)

As far as I’m aware all of the cars awarded as bounty hunter prizes are/will be available by other means. Thats not to say that at some point there may be an exclusive prize car in the future but all other cars can be obtained. There are plenty of cars in this game to keep you busy. Far more than you could realistically use.

Agreed. For every locked car I want, there are about a dozen other unlocked ones I also want, and Turn 10 really does seem to be doing a much better job of making the available than they did with unicorn cars in the past. I’ve already got a couple of ones I was looking for, and the Jag coming up from Leagues is another one.

Still a lot more than Gran Turismo when you don’t count all the duplicate Skylines. I could do without the numbers padding as much as the next guy (and I’m including all the SUVs, Hoonigan/F&F cartoon cars, etc. in that statement), but even if you discount those this Forza has the most comprehensive automotive roster I’ve seen since GT4. I’m very happy with the range of cars they’ve included.

If you’re into car collecting FM7 is definitely for you and the Ultimate edition is a good option. I don’t regret my purchase in the slightest.

There are now approximately 738 vehicles in the game. There is a Forzathon coming soon and a Specialty Dealer every week. Within the next 7 days I would expect the number of locked “exclusive” cars to be less that 60. That leaves 678 available to own vehicles with the number of locked “exclusive” vehicles decreasing each week. Many of the locked vehicles can be rented and whilst you won’t get CR or XP with a rental, they can be used and will count towards some of the achievements.

The Specialty Dealer has already offered vehicles such as the 2009 Ford Focus RS which was previously awarded to participants in the Halloween Bash 2017 giving everyone the opportunity to purchase it and this process is likely to continue.

I didnt know that the focus was already given out/sold. ( Got the game a couple months after release) Its good to see that you shouldnt have to stress about the car you missed or couldnt afford at the time, that there should be a few more chances for one somewhere down the line. Seems like a few cars have already popped up like that.

Just play the game and the cars will come to you in time. No reason to rush for everything when this game is only a few months into a 2 year shelf life.

And how many are there when you don’t count one car multiple times just because it’s got a different paint job?

Rhetorical quesrtion but there was only one car which slightly irritated me.

I quite like having a few duplicates so I can play around with tunes and upgrades but I need to find a way of annotating tunes of owned cars with a description e.g. race, drift, drag, tarmac, off-road etc.

Also a bit of idle curiosity as I haven’t actually counted the surplus IndyCars, NASCARs, etc.

You can save up your credits and buy the “unicorn cars” from the Auction House.

Although I might repeat myself - I guess there will be realistic chances of locked cars reappearing.

If you compare FM7 with FH3 there are some differences when it comes to car collecting.

The cars in FM7 are definitely cheaper AND you are offered a car every time you level up, so it is much easier to get a large collection soon.

As in FH3 some cars are only available through special events (like Forzathon, leagues or challenges). Remember how long it took until you got the last missing car (Mini JCW HE) in FH3, so be patient.

Many rare cars reappeared in FH3 and some did in FM7, so it´s fair to assume you will get your chance to collect all cars sooner or later. Probably later, as this keeps you sticking to the game.

The implementation of the auction house is rather poor in comparison to FH3 and especially for sellers of little use as you can´t adjust the prices fine enough. Since the cars are quite affordable that´s no major problem. I still have not bought a single car in the FM7 auction house.

Meanwhile they continue to adress the bugs and issues and so the game will get the quality and stability it should have had right from the start.

If you´re interested in racing - give it a “go”. The game still has some issues, but you can get some fun playing FM7.

We already have threads discussing the 1% of cars you cant get as soon as you log on we dont need another , theres also probably 1000s of cars that were made worldwide that havent been added and never will be. Nobody can tell the future so nobody can tell you whether or not a specific car will be in the game at some point in the future. For a full list of cars available please seen the threads Max has expertly produced.
