Under the hood, ROAD DYNAMICS FORZA HORIZON 5

Edited March 12/22

My back ground. I do not care whatsoever about the festival playlist, I do care about whats under the hood because that is what this game is about. It’s about the cars and roads they run on.
FH4 160,000 KM driven in free-roam, over 2000 hours, FH5 9000 Miles driven in free-roam. Wheel T500 setup, full manual, no driving aids. Enough about my stats.

Brief description of the current situation: FH5 has boring flat over cornered paved roads with a high degree of banking making them unrealistic at best. Due to a lack of testing, this has resulted in an inordinate amount of bugs mainly in the Festival playlist. End result is very low server numbers compared to FH4, hard and blasting comments on all social media hurting the franchise. My proposal should fix a great deal and would entice those playing FH4 to come join FH5, improve the image of the franchiser and be loads of fun for all.

Suggest: ROAD DYNAMICS: FH4 has all these elements. Paved back roads should challenge the player to be on the very edge and limit of control. This is done thru the use of bumps, rollers, heaves, sudden drops, blind corners, pot holes and table top intersections in carefully arranged proportions. In FH4 all these elements are present. FH4 players moving to FH5 expects this but these elements are not present. What is required is REALISTIC thrills and chills, not flat boring roads in which corners are the only challenge. In the included map, the red arrows show where, more of a bump, is needed as these 2 locations as these already have a bump and just need a tweak to shorten the transition to give the bump more of a jump feeling. The AREAS MARKED IN BLUE, these are areas in which the roads should be straightened out with the addition of bumps, rollers, heaves, sudden drops, blind corners, pot holes and table top intersections along them. By straightening out these areas you’ll have nice fast back roads that will have a decent challenge. Every road should tell a story. Right now it’s just corner to corner with nothing in the middle, that’s why it’s boring. There are a few turns with excessive banking and these are not marked on my map so I ask your team to investigated and reduce where necessary. Any dirt roads that don’t have a bump put one in it. (Dirt roads are not the greatest and could use some tweaking ,IE: less banking more bumps on flat sections.)

CONCLUSION: If these elements can be fixed approximately 60 edits, I’m confident FH5 can be as popular as FH4. It will go a long way to making people happy.

I hope that I have been able through my own experience, been able to advise in this area in which I feel is in desperate need of help. After-all, I have the mileage and time (60 years young) put in to have a keen understanding. Something I hope has value. I think I know what fun is, I just hope I can convince you of this too as I’m confident I know what people want. Driving games has always been, from the first time I stuck a quarter in a drag racing arcade machine back in 1972 till today, is my greatest passion.

I have edited the map EDITED March 12/22 to reflect the out come of edits. You will have 3 fast main feeder roads running east west marked in RED. I always envisioned this and here it is. All the other edits would improve the roads dynamically. It might seem like a lot of work, 60 edits, but in the end you will have an excellent map provided the use of bumps, rollers, heaves, sudden drops, blind corners, pot holes and table top intersections in carefully arranged in REALISTIC proportions.

Cheers,
Stay Safe,
