Unable to race my best Ghost.

Hi,

I’ve just purchased Forza 7 having last played Forza on the Xbox 360. Having played a few multiplayer matches and lost heavily I thought I’d get to know a few maps by racing my ghost.

Am aware about Rivals but wishing to race my own ghost so have gone onto Freeplay to do this.

I just can’t believe that I have to race a whole lap, sometimes from a standing start to get a ghost! And once the race has finished this ghost then disappears for good. How on earth am I to practice against myself, learn from my mistakes without my best ghost to race against?

I am sorely disappointed, and feel I have to give feedback on the game. Rivals doesn’t help me with learning the course.

Hoping that this feature will return either as a patch or in Forza 8.

You don’t need a ghost to see where you make a mistake. If anything, that would be more of a distraction. You can find yourself constantly striving to nose in front of it and as a result fail to see your brake markers, miss apexes or worse try to outbrake the ghost which as we know is just silly. Try going into the HUD options and turning on the track limits and choosing the ribbon as opposed to the beacons. I occasionally do this myself; I turned the ghost off because it really does kill my focus. I find that on an unfamiliar track it can help draw your eye naturally towards the best possible line. It also helps when, for example, you are on one of the countless configurations of Virginia International Raceway at night. Before they introduced the racing line I have these horrible memories of fumbling around VIR aimlessly in the dark, having a miserable time of it. And if by some miracle I ended up doing well someone else would have a nightmare and end up introducing thousands of tons of debris onto the track in the process causing me to crash.

But yeah, you do have a far more useful tool at your disposal with the track limits.

The ghost system in free play is and always has been, completely broken. You get a ghost of your first lap and that only changes if you beat your overall PB which is posted on the leaderboard for that particular track/car division.
