Unable to gain rank in ranked adventure

Ignoring (and acknowledging) all the short comings) of getting into a ranked adventure and getting banned “for leaving a race early”!!! I have managed to complete a few dozen races even on the winning team nearly 50% of the time. But each time my rank points are 0+0=0. What do I have to do to gain at least 1 rank point? Finish first?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

As a bonus question how do I connect with other racers who only use steering wheels and keep away from the numpties who just want to crash/smash/bash?

Sorry, not following you on the first point. In ranked adventure I know, you start by doing 10 CS with X as level. then you are given an initial ranking like 16(979) or 17(845) etc, the lower are the numbers, the most you are considered as ‘MMaaaaster’ . Just a tip, being a master as nothing to do with racing skills, meaning wall racing, kicking etc is part of the thing, you have to win at all cost and prey for being in the good color.

for you second point, no place for clean racers in FH4 except private races but you have to already know the people you want to race with. My advice, if you want to race clean, go to FH3.

Thanks Tilo,

I think there must be a glitch. My “rank” is 20(0) and after every race the system says my new rank is 0+0 leaving me 20(0) again.

You’re right about FH3, must better racing and you can choose the class and no collisions!

I have the excact same problem. I already did a post about this and opened a ticket about this but no response. Forza community servies is a joke, one week and no help at all.

Same here. My rank is always 20 + 0 after every race, even if I win and my team wins. I haven’t got a single point since day one. I’ve pretty much given up on multiplayer.

You probably have a negative rank score. If you go to your Horizon Life Stats and go to the Team Adventure tab it will show you your career wins and losses for each ranked adventure type. If you have significantly more losses than wins, chances are you are Rank 20 + 0. Other factors to keep in mind that affect points awarded/lost (the following is based on a lot of communication between teammates and opponents over the course of 300+ ranked games and 2 ranked seasons, across all three Team Adventure modes: Racing, Games, and Anything Goes):

  1. If you leave/disconnect from a match early you will be penalized and more points will be deducted from your ranking than if you stay and complete a match. This is somewhat bugged as the penalty is not always enforced.
  2. Team Skill Rank (the number shown under your team name on the first screen of a Ranked Team Adventure), which is an average of the skills of you and your team is factored against the Team Skill Rank of your opponents (you don’t actually get to see their number, but can guesstimate it from the opponents individual ranks). The difference in Team Skill Ranks between the two teams help determine the points awarded for a win and deducted for a loss. For example, if your Team Skill Rank is 2,000 and your opponents Team Skill Rank is 500, you will be awarded less points for a win, but if you get beat by that same team you will lose a lot more points because you were the “favored” team. If you are on a “Favored/Stacked” team you will win less for a victory, but lose more in defeat. If you are on an “Underdog/Weak” team you will win more for a victory, but lose less in defeat (I have even seen cases where a losing player still gets awarded points, when their team was significant underdogs playing against a highly ranked team).
  3. Individual Skill Rank is also factored into the amount of points you win or loss, the higher you climb the less points you will earn and the more points you will lose. For example, a person with a Skill Rank Score of 8 / 3,000 will win less and lose more for the same victory or defeat as a player on the same team that has a Skill Rank Score of 20 / 100. However, the in-game formula for this is bugged so this is sometimes not the case, see note 6.
  4. Number of players on each team at the START of a match (not at the end of a match). If the opposing team STARTS a match with less players you will win less points for a victory and lose significantly more points for a defeat. This is somewhat of a backwards concept for Ranked Racing as having less players is actually a huge advantage, whereas in Ranked Playground Games, this makes some sense where having less teammates is a huge disadvantage. The number of players that leave DURING a match doesn’t affect the points awarded or lost at the end of the match, the Team Skill Rank is locked in at the start of the match.
  5. If you are still qualifying for a Rank Score (X / -), you actually still do have a skill rank score that is going up and down with each win and loss/disconnect. Even though the lowest score shown for a player is Rank 20 / 0 points, you can actually have a negative score if you lose or abandon games a lot more than you win. You don’t actually know how negative you are as the number stops at 0, but you can deduce that if you have more losses than wins you will be Rank 20 / 0 (and the more losses you have vs. wins, the further negative your score will be and the more wins you will need to get back to a positive rank score).
  6. There is a bug/glitch in the scoring system, some players are earning and losing less points than other players for the same exact win or loss and it doesn’t have to do with their individual skill rank score. For example, consider players on the same team, where Player ‘A’ has a Skill Rank 4, 4100 points could win 4 points while Player ‘B’ with Skill Rank 10, 2700 points wins 0 points for a victory. Then in another game Player ‘B’ with Skill Rank 10, 2700 points could lose 15 points and Player ‘C’ on the same team with Rank 17, 750 points could lose 50 points for the same loss. In this case, it would appear that Player ‘B’ is the “affected” player that has a “dampened” points awarded and deducted situation. This seems to be specific to only certain game modes for only specific people. For example, just because Player 'B" is getting a “dampened” effect in Racing, does not mean they experience the same situation in Anything Goes or Playground Games. This could be associated with people that have experienced large point losses despite getting a victory, but the number of people I have encountered with this issue is too limited to determine a possible cause of this. [EDIT: This also seems to possibly be tied to players that were qualified in the very first ranked season, as I have not encountered players with this situation that qualified in subsequent ranked seasons.]
  7. Individual in-game performance does not affect the amount of points awarded or lost following the completion of a match. It doesn’t matter if you get individually get 1st or last every race or if in Playground Games score the most/least flags, hold the king the longest/shortest, survive the longest/shortest, or infect the most/least players. All that matters is if your TEAM wins or loses.

Hopefully this makes things clear as mud for those wondering how points are awarded in ranked adventure…

Thanks for that, very helpful. Have you reported the bugs to PG?

Yes, I submitted ticket #13388 regarding the scoring issue on 11/27/2018. I received a response that they were looking into the issue and would get back to me as soon as they have more information on 12/19/2018.

Do you possibly have a screenshot of your rank?

I had the same thing happen to me but kept with it and after a few more times it finally started to progress.

Guys, nobody can fix a pb they cannot reproduce, you need to provide all the details, what platform are you playing, what time, is your game up to date etc etc. screenshots are almost mandatory to make the issue real.
What I did, is uploading my captures to one drive, then use a free image sharing to put it on the forum + use an online app that transform video in gif. Now, you can make it more simple by just submitting a ticket here and attaching the screenshots/video ( less than 10MB from experience )

NB : RK , hope it is fine I share guidelines as you do, I would like this game to improve and from what I understood, unless people log requests, it will hardly happen.

hi im actually curious how the grand master player rankings work thought it reset each month but are 2 players in top ten team adventure with 0 wins 1 losses

I have this exact same problem on ranked team adventure racing

Same issue here-been on winning team twice and still in league 20 with zero points.

It’s a ranking system, so you have to beat people ranked higher than you to advance. If everyone on the opposing team you beat is ranked 20(0) or unranked, you cannot advance. Only if you beat those with ranking. I think…

Yes, I think something along those lines must be the explanation, but even so, everyone starts off with 0 points, so why do some people increase from there and others don’t?

Incidentally, when people appear unranked, the game still maintains a ranking, you can see that ranking in the xbox app. So when I last did a ranked adventure, I appeared unranked, but my ranking score was around 1500, so I was in an adventure where everyone who had a visible ranking was around that level. The standard of driving suggested that the other people without a visible ranking also had a hidden ranking around the same level, i.e. there were no obviously weak players in there.

This is an actual email I got from support:

Rank 20 is the Max rank.

But we are looking into the Disconnection issue.
Ju1ce_Cannon

What the heck? It goes 20,19,18,etc!

“Rank 20 is the Max rank.”

I got this exact response earlier, after waiting 7 weeks for a reply. Utterly baffling. The idea is to climb rank up to 1, right?

I think it would be better to have no customer support at all. It’s dismissive at best; at worst it’s just downright insulting.

I did the single qualifying match for the current Ranked Team Adventure series, and it now says I’m Rank 20. That is a huge drop from my previous rank of 10 . How is that possible? I haven’t played anymore since then, do you think it would correct itself?

I was having problems before this: In the previous Ranked Adventure series, the game indicated (on the screen displaying what prizes were available from the various rankings) that I would receive up to rank 10 at the end of the series. But when I went back to the Main Team Adventure menu, it said only up to Rank 11. In the end, I only received up to Rank 11, even though the game indicated I was Rank 10 and would get up to 10. Obviously there is some discrepancy with the points and what ranking they actually are.

You should probably stay away from ranked if you want to race clean. That sounds like a joke when I say it but it’s true

The quality of racing in ranked online adventures is just laughable, people riding walls and ramming the opposing team like crazy. I’m almost convinced that there aren’t many good drivers In fh4, i think they all went back to FM7 where a real competitive mode exists.
