Okay I don’t understand how people pay 150$ to get the ultimate edition which includes, car pass, VIP and VIP benefits yet they still have to pay for newly released car packs? Most of us bought the ultimate edition thinking they would get newly released car packs free. There was absolutely no point in buying any edition besides standard if deluxe and ultimate edition buyers still have to pay for car packs and DLCs.
I’m sure I’m not the only one in the forza horizon 3 community disappointed that ‘car pass’ doesn’t do what it says.![]()

Your not the only one no… but the contents of each edition are listed…
The Car Pass brings you six monthly car packs (7 cars each) beginning in October 2016, ending March 2017.
• A total of 42 new cars , all waiting to be collected, customized, and raced
• Requires base game
First of all, sorry you’re frustrated about this … I know a lot of people are.
Couple of points …
(1) Don’t know where you’re located, but here in the US I’ve never paid more than $100 for Ultimate Editions of any Forza game. If it’s $150 where you are … that’s tough.
(2) It is very explicitly stated with Forza games exactly what is included with the Ultimate Editions and they ‘do exactly what they say they do’. They’ve been the same at least since FM5 which was when I started playing Forza.
(3) There is a point in buying other editions than standard because you get discounts on content in Deluxe and Ultimate Editions as compared to buying all the same content independently.
I bought the ultimate and it was clear enough to me what was included.
IIRC on Live it says what you’re getting in the pack.
That being said, it’s frustrating to buy an Ultimate Edition and not have everything off the bat.
IMO the worst part isn’t the car packs, it’s the Expansion Pass requiring separate purchase. However, it seems to me that the expansions function very independently from the base game, as they have their own menus and stats. So I take it T10 figured out people would only buy the expansions if they really wanted them (especially HW which was controversial), hence why they didn’t include the Pass with the UE, which would’ve increased its price somewhat.
“Ultimate” by definition does not mean everything is included. It means that it is the best possible version with the most included … which is what we get. Expansions have never been included with any launch day versions of the games.
It’s not the best possible version. To get the best possible version with the most content one has to buy a few extra things beyond the so-called “Ultimate Edition”, making it penultimate at best. That said, it does grant everything it says it does if one reads a bit further than “Ultimate Edition”.
But it was the best possible version available
There is not another version that contains more
That’s the catch..people really need to read what they pay for
It applies to everything in life too
Otherwise they will get taken advantage of if they assume things are included when they arent
Nah. You just didn’t read what it included and went off your own assumption. That’s your fault bud.
Where have you been the last 5 months since the 1st extra dlc car pack was released
The car pass gives you the first 6 packs at a discounted price nothing more
Read what you pay for
Not just assume
Its been this way with forza since fm3
Maybe even fm2
Only exception was horizon 1
I definitely agree that a complete edition needs to be offered at launch. Even tough the ultimate digital edition is $100 at launch, I would gladly pay $150 for an edition where all DLC and expansions are included.
I’m amazed at how many people who purchase this game are unable to read (or are oblivious to the fact every Forza game follows the same pattern). I wonder in there’s a forum on the Microsoft site where someone is freaking out that they bought a 12 month subscription to Xbox live and don’t understand why it doesn’t last forever. Lack of common sense and logic seems to be spreading like wildfire these days.
Calling something “ultimate” is just a trick from “persuasive communication”. The problem is Microsoft keeps changing the naming, and the meaning of that naming, for bundles and passes. Plus descriptions are quite often incomplete or vague, and then get lost in translation.
Just some examples:
- Forza Motorsport 3 had an “Ultimate Collection” released on disc: “Original game plus all content previously released on Xbox LIVE”;
- Forza Motorsport 5 Car Pass included every Car Pack, plus Booster Packs that were not listed in the description;
- Forza Motorsport 6 has a Platinum bundle that is an incomplete collection, and a Complete Add-Ons Collection;
- Forza Horizon 2’s Complete Add-Ons Collection lists all Car Packs in the description, except it misses to install 1 separately so other profiles don’t have access.
I think there really should be a Complete Edition from the start. And I wish we could “upgrade” to Complete Add-Ons Collections without paying for content twice, like Steam’s “Complete your collection” (that even offers further reductions during sales).
