Ultima 1020 EVO, completly undrivable

Has anyone had the misfortune of doing the ultima spec championship? The ultima is very strange to drive, it has a ridiculous amount of over steer and the grip levels with street tyres is very low. I tuned it to max spec and it was equally as bad. The only thing I didn’t do was change it to 4wd that might makes it a bit better. I suspect other p class cars are going to be the same but what make the ultima worse is that u can’t actually tune it to homologation because it’s spec.

Solution lower the pi and put it in hyper cars imo

Agreed. I attempted to test drive this car, before the championship spec race. It’s undrivable with my FFB wheel. Barely move the steering wheel, and the car is oversteering. I haven’t tried with a controller. Like you said insane amounts of oversteer. It seems broken. I’ve raced hundreds of other cars, in this game. Nothing is as bad as this one. Is it broken?

I did complete that one race with it and like always will not use that car ever again, especially in wet conditions.
No problem of Forza 7 however I guess, what do you expect from a car with over 1000 HP and RWD that weighs next to nothing?
I am not a big fan of RWD in real life and stick to AWD (quattro in my case), so maybe I am a bit biased here.

Yet to get my hands on it, but assuming it’s nothing a little tuning wont fix.

If I can wrangle the Hoonicorn…

With traction control on I didn’t think much of it. I try to drive most without TC, but I wanted to be done with that series to get the Focus.

Haven’t driven it yet but I’d just like to say that the standard version was so much better than this stupid 1020 version, wish they would have left it in and dropped the 1020 instead. If you want ridiculous horsepower just let us upgrade the regular one.

It’s mostly fine with TCS off after some tuning. Softer ARBs and damping and a bit of rear toe in pretty much tames the oversteer without compromising the balance of the car.

Without a doubt the Ultima is much faster with TCS on, but it’s less fun.

Drove this with a wheel on release weekend. Drove fine. Only needed TCS for the wet race and only because I was feeling a bit lazy.

Use gears taller than you are used to as you have so much torque and it works out ok.

it is because of the huge ammount of tork. I believe it might be even the fastest car in the game, top speed of that thing is bigger then I ever saw on streight line. Acceleration i unbeliavable. Totally understandable why it have a huge amount of oversteer. BTW I completed that challenge on Simulation steering with all assists off on a controller. just saying.

I haven’t used it yet but this and the 720 were like this in previous games.

Its easy enough with a decent tune.

I managed to do it in unbeatable with no TCS using a very nice BAM Myst tune.

With wheel RWD cars in FM7 are a nightmare… insane oversteer, acc diff feels like 0%, downhill+brake means death, low lateral grip feel… etc.
You can fix that with a deep tune but for factory cars only can fix that dropping linearity steer on wheel settings or stability system ON.
I play PC or AC without assists and FM7 is hardest… Cars like Porsche RS’18, Ferrari 458 GT3 or Radial are a pain.
Sorry my bad english

I struggled with this car on fm7 but on fm6 it was a dream to drive. I have started to suspect that cars that used to be ok with tcs on are now harder to drive. I think this is directly related to the increased grip levels and how easy it is to drive with tcs off compared to fm6

When I first started the Championship, I learned that staying in 3rd and 4th gear through the turns really helped. the car was actually manageable without losing much speed, but I eventually found myself turning Traction Control on to finish the series… It’s the only car I ever turned TC on for. Both Radicals weren’t much better, IMO.

I found the radicals that bad I had to put friction assist on. Defeneatly a pattern occurring here. Both the ultima and the radical were tcs on to be competitive on fm6. Now both cars are really bad with tcs on

I put TCS on and ran the short races just to get done with the series.

I’m sure with some tuning and practice, I could run without TCS which I do in most other cars, but I play the game only for fun, and there are a lot of other cars I consider more fun than that one.

Sorry I have only just got back to you all this post took nearly a month to be moderated. Thanks for all the replys

For those that are saying a good tune will fix it. As far as im aware on fm6 the ultima was tunned without the front splitter but on fm7 u can’t take it off. I will try a few tunes and see if I can post a good time on the lb

3rd 4th 5th has always been the way to drive this car but it still needs tcs

I completed this race on unbeatable with tcs on but that’s not really the point. This car is the fastest car in the game it totally dominated the boards on fm6. Now its in its own division and handles like it’s got 5.5 handling. As far as im concerned this car is ruined and the lickly hood of it being used seriously are extremely thin

Well I decided to leap in!

Bought the car, added a sport gearbox which broke the homolgamation rules but then removed the rear spoiler so it crept back down the PI again.

Tuned the tires to 30psi, camber to -0.5 front & back…suspension to 300 front/400 back, bump to 4, rebound to 8 front & back, small amount of positive rake…looooong gear ratio so the final gear line disappeared off the edge of the graph.
Differential to 75% acc & dec.

And off to Yas Marina!..manual gearbox…no clutch…no assists…simulation everything!

While yes you do get wheelspin if you floor it in 1st, 2nd & third I found a light touch gave better control, but no lower than third gear around corners.

I did a 2:18 which on the leaderboards is 7th out of 120 people globally.

(I did notice the turning circle was shockingly huge)

I used it with no assists and rwd and managed fine tbh. It’s worth learning to use throttle control for the high powered cars.

I did this series and hated this car. Hit first race and got feel for it on Hockemhiem and was like this car would be horrible on Long Beach and bam next race was Long Beach. Suffered thru that with sim damage on(most the AI pitted first lap) and was like this can’t get worse…so Mugello comes up…not a bad track this isn’t that bad…then Sebring…in the friggin rain…whatever dev at turn 10 who is a sadist decided that was a good race for this crap should be throat punched…continuously…trick is not hitting the throttle full blast but this was a nightmare.
