Ultima !!!!

Hi guys was just wondering if any of you guys have put a max “R” class tune on the Ultima yet? If so what’s the verdict? What sort of lap times are you achieving? Will this car be competitive? In its own class with a good tune (E.G.) will it threaten any top times on the leaderboards In the right hands?
Also just a quick query as to what the “R” class online lobbies are like for wreckers and poor divers ect…
Thanks in advance Si.

The Ultima is amazing. I got No.1 on Le Mans Mulsanne (Old) with a 3:12.471 (Can go 1.1 Seconds faster).
Also, R Class online isn’t as bad as the lower classes + I just like the cars in that class…
Build one, you’ll love it!

Cheers for the comment… I presume you have you’ve geared it for the long straight? (Forgive me as I’m not that familiar with Le Mans track. I like the Bugatti circuit but I couldn’t tell you the rest of the names)
Can it tuned right handle something like Road Atlanta? I do plan on tuning one my self it’s just finding the time at the minute and the excitement got the better of me. I’ve already brought one and upgraded it to max class R so it’s a start.

Man, you make it sound easy. We have a Saturday night race league and one of the races was 10 laps on Old Lemans. I made an Ultima and ran it but it was hell for me to drive. I kept it together for 6 laps but I couldn’t push it much and eventually I wrecked a few times. I think I had one clean lap. The turn on the straight and the one two before the straight just crushed me. Maybe you guys can share some tuning hints because that car just made me pay heavy for what would have normally been small mistakes.

It’s sort of a tricky car to tune but it’s one of the best R class cars. It’s default PI is so high you can’t put everything you want on it. You’ll have to sacrifice areo, fully upgraded tires, or upgraded transmission to stay under 900. And that’s all without any engine upgrades, which to be fair it doesn’t need save for perhaps at Le Mans. I’m no pro but it seems it’s good on speed tracks where the Saleen and Venom are good. It’s not as fast but has good aero and gets up to 200+ in a hurry. It’s also has decent high speed handling ability to it’s good on a few tracks where the Zonda is good, Indy and Spa for instance. The front inside tire has a tendency to lift during high speed turns, something I had to work to tune out. Default bump/rebound stiffnesses are a little wacky.

The car has some instability so quick hint, you need to go to some extremes with the settings. XD

Thanks, I didn’t spend a lot of time with it because it was just for one race. I’ve been using your formulas and starting at 50% of the weight distribution for springs. It’s been working really well. This car just wanted to murder me though. I eventually put the ARBs at full understeer and it still killed me. Maybe I’ll play around with crazy camber or something later. I just really started to hate the car by the end of that race.

I tried tuning with sport tires and fully adjustable front aero, among other upgrades. Started off on Indy GP and was having trouble with the last (highspeed) turn. Felt like the inside front tire was lifting. I’m no expert tuner or driver, though I’m getting quite good. Didn’t have much luck with extreme values for the ARBs, which is where I thought the issue was. It was difficult to drive with sport tires period, though it allows for more customization so perhaps it is the way to go for a more experienced tuner. I’ve found that racing tires and adjusting the damping/rebound had a profound effect, but am unable to use front aero on this tune. It seems to have decent stock front aero as it is, but I have not gone through the effort to calculate what it is. If I knew I could more accurately set the rear downforce to my preferred starting point of twice the front. I don’t know if this is even possible, as not all dimensions are given. As it stands I find that about 2/3 the max rear down force is effective. With this tune I’ve set several top 150 and some top 100 times on nearly all the tracks it’s good on. As a non pro I would suggest damping/rebound as a good pace to start for someone of similar skill.
