UI - Subtitles for track commentary won't disappear if you press "Start Race" too quickly (1784066)

When you enter a track and commentary about the track starts, if you press Start Race before the voice line has finished and subtitles have disappeared, they stick around until the end of times (or until something else that needs the subtitles) This persists into menus, Photo Mode etc. Example video: Watch Stuck subs | Streamable

Workaround for this is turning subtitles off, letting the voice line play out or pressing X to preview subtitles in Options if they are stuck.

Bug Info: Subtitles won’t disappear if you press “Start Race” too quickly and commentary is still playing.
Platform: MS PC.
Attempted fixes: Game restarted.
Content Update: Started happening in U11. Before this update, the voice would cut out and subtitles would disappear when entering the race.

I have noted this and is so annoying, thats why ill report here, this didnt happen in update 10 or before. Plz fix this in update 12.

I noticed this too on Xbox Series X. You have to wait until she finishes talking, otherwise the subtitles stick.

I’m also on Series X. I didn’t change anything from previous session but the last line persisted onscreen. After the race ended I turned off subtitles, but the line remained until she spoke again. Not sure why I’ve kept the subtitles on so long, as she doesn’t say anything new or interesting.

Had this happen last night while driving around the new circuit. Got the “Last Lap” subtitle stuck on screen even after finishing the race, and going all the way back out to the main menu. Not only is that irritating, but it also means that no other subtitles will ever show up. I also tried turning the subtitles off, and then back on again to no avail. No idea how they could possibly have broken this.

Tried doing a free run test drive with a newly built car, went to hakone. The on screen text wouldn’t go away had to restart game.
Anyone else experience this?

For me the subtitles stayed until she spoke again, then that line stayed. I turned off the subs and in the next race, the subs disappeared when she first spoke.

As for how they could mess this up, that’s what they’ve been excelling at, these past few years. #FTGU

Onscreen writing or text won’t go away from being at the track. Idk what you call this. Forgive me if it’s double posted to something that someone knows what to call it.

Even after a pit stop the commentary don’t disappear.

Basically if you start the race before the above lady finishes saying her lines, the subtitles get stuck on screen until she talks again, such as after getting a penalty or telling you it’s the last lap.

I have a temporary solution that I found works when the subtitles won’t disappear. No need to restart or anything like that.

Go to ‘Settings’, ‘Accessibility’, then ‘Subtitles’ header.
With Subtitles turned ON and cursor or selection box on the subtitles on/off button, press X (not sure of corresponding PC button) to Preview Subtitles.

This clears it for me and allowed me to just turn them off afterwards so I don’t get the issue persisting.

Hi all I’ve encountered a bug since last update. Now I tried looking through the known list and it’s not there so posting here.

When you arrive at the track for practice and the narrator gives you a brief intro and or tip of how to get round the track in question. On the bottom there’s subtitles when you say begin practice and tap the A button to skip the writing stays in the screen, also when let’s say you get a penalty the subtitles are still on the screen if you decide to restart the race. See below screenshot of the issue described.

Thanks so much Guys.

Happened to me too, even when I switched to a private multiplayer with a friend it still stayed there from free play, only way to get rid of it was too close then reopen the game.

Ya it’s a little annoying hopefully this gets fixed soon.

Hello @Eire1984 & @Morpher218 . To prevent this, let the dialog finishes and then continue navigating through the menu.

Ya I do that but sometimes I forget and they remain on screen. Ah it’s not a “game breaking” bug so it’s fine. It’s just annoying lol
