First post in the Forza 5 forums so here goes. firstly I love Forza 5 and the release of the green hell and GP track was a highlight!
However, I have recently been experimenting after reading a recent post that went a bit off topic about tyre flex or the lack of. I must admit that even in photo mode I have failed to detect any tyre flex at all, now before everyone jumps on me I am just asking the question, does it exist in FM5, it was very evident in FM4 as remember watching the replays in advanced wheel cam and seeing the tyres flex a lot.
So far I have only seen one pic of an open wheel car showing what looks like subtle tyre flex but nothing else and even when I dropped the PSI on some of my muscle cars with stock tyres to minimum I cannot see any flex through high speed corners at the limit of grip even in photo mode?
Would love to see some more pics to prove the point
And yes I know to some this is a very very minor point but all the same with the detail that was apparent even in visual tyre wear I expected to see the tyre flex as well.
I posted this picture last winter. Not only is the tire deformation modelled, it is modelled backwards (at least on this car). The Ferrari 312 in the picture is making a left turn (1st corner at Sebring). The tire skid mark also shows the car sliding from left to right BUT the tire deformation is showing the opposite.
Yeah its definitely there but sometimes it goes the wrong way like the 312 lol. It does affect the handling still as well even if it doesn’t show to much. To test it just put bigger rims on and feel how much more response you have
Thanks for the responses guys, Danowat that is really subtle lol and as for the Ferrari shot go figure, that is bizarre!
I guess I was trying to experiment with the tyre pressures to see if this had much effect on the handing characteristics and if this was also translated into visible tyre roll/flex.
I have real life experience of very low all round tyre pressures and the effect this has on handling, especially at high speed, like driving a boat
Don’t know if the flex is more realistic in FM5 from FM4 I think they used data from Pirelli for FM4 and Calspan testing for FM5 but if the flex is backwards on some of the cars guess that answers that one! Don’t suppose that will ever get fixed
Absolutely. Low pressure may be better grip but handling suffers greatly for narrow and/or high profile tires. High pressure lacks grip but significantly better for controlling tire flex.
False… Tire flex is less visual but has a dramatic affect on a car. Larger tire equals less response due in direct relation to tire wall flex. That’s why alot of the cars u will see have larger rims epically on the front. Not all cars need larger rims but if u put the front rim bigger on cars with less handling it will greatly improve the turn in response
So the tyre flex maybe just visual but can anyone really tell the difference with handling when you adjust tyre pressures, I am not so sure or maybe it is too subtle an effect, oh by the way I am fluxdensity71 just thought I had lost my original Forza account back to photonmonkey all is good with the world!!!
