So the last couple of days ive decided to go achievement hunting.
Which of course this involves me completing a few PR stunts. Like the Clever Girl Achievement that requires 3 stars in 5 PR stunts using the Ford Raptor.
After i finally finished the Achievement after a very rageful and stressful hour or so i come to conclusion on why the option to turn off traffic and drivatars is not an option. They where the main issue that stopped me completing the PR stunts.
Traffic and mainly drivatars where the reason why I couldnt complete the PR stunts, especially on the Drift Zones as they would constantly get in the way, especially when im driving a massive vehicle like the Ford Raptor.
Well yes, the traffic and Drivatars do add to the challenge but I feel there should be an option to turn them off, especially in online. It’s a feature that’s been requested at release because compared to FH2, there’s a lot more traffic in this game now. Traffic can be fun at times but it’s usually an annoyance to some. Drift zones are unfortunately hit hard by traffic and can be frustrating when going for a perfect run but I feel that if Turn 10 do implement a feature to turn off traffic, it should only be available in online sessions.
This, start a private online free roam. No drivatars, no randoms, and from my experience there is actually less traffic in multiplayer to compensate for the extra players and cars on the road.
FH3 is NOT “circuit racing” like Forza Motorsport. We have objects (trees, etc.) and normal traffic on public roadways. It is what it is. If you want all cars going the same direction, try the FM series. Horizon has always been “open” on the roadways and paths, even cross country sometimes, and will stay that way as part of the challenge.
Sometimes the amount of cars present on a Drift Zone is staggeringly overdone. I mean, 4 drivatars + 5 cars just taking all the space available on a what, 500m long DF ?
To quote Dylan, it’s like taking a free-kick with a double wall and 3 keepers between the sticks
While I understand that this is a free roam game the amount of drivatars that tend to hang around an event that I’m doing is just stupid imho. On top of that the drivatars actually aim at my car, they’ve done that many times. If a work around for the drivatars and traffic has been “developed” then there is an obvious need to give players the ability to turn things off.
I’ve had a Drivatar drive into me head on on an empty straight road while I was just slowly accelerating (iow. driving like 20k-30m/h). Oh yeah, he had to purposefully drive on the wrong side of the road to pull that off too… Traffic in these types of games is just programmed to hinder people. Like them blinking for a left turn and doing a right (noticed that for the first time in Horizon 3 today, was extremely common in TDU1)
Same with drift zones, the game just spawns a bunch of racing Drivatards in your path taking up the entire road. For people who are good at drifting that’s a “challenge” (tho they get their drift ruined as well, but they’re good at it, so having a good drift ruined is just a minor inconvenience), to those of use who aren’t quite so great at it it’s just rage inducing to have a good drift ruined over and over and over again.
Why not just make difficulty affect these things or make a separate difficulty setting for it. That way the “elite” can keep being elitist and us scrubs can get these things done (while possibly even enjoying ourselves) and maybe improve so we can move up in the driving world. Instead of just giving up in frustration.
drivatards are just crazy, dont tell me its no intentional that there is always most of them in speed/drift zones grouped together so they make sure to take whole road. And the worst part is the just keep teleporting back so you overtake them and minute later the same one drives in the opposite direction. Its just so dumb man.
There’s needs to be like 2 Times less traffic in this game. You can’t even test drive your tunes without ramming into 50 cars. If you can tell me besides Challenge what Fun it is then I’ll change my mind. I mean are you having fun getting rammed into? Cause I’m not
I am ok for it to be an option but i am ok with it as it is.
When i did BM i actually thought there was less traffic than i expected.
I would not be happy if changes were made that applied to all players. I like it how it is.
But yeah i have no issue with an option for those who want the change.
With testing tunes i do it in rivals, that way you have an empty track. If you dont like the tune restart and retune from the screen before you get back on track.
So there are some who are “ok with” and dare say “like” lots of annoying traffic… wonder if they like it in real life too. Weird. Didn’t anyone tell these pedestrians there’s a race event going on with lots of crazy drivers on the road?
It’s not like there hasn’t been hundreds/thousands of legit complaints… whenever the topic comes up I’ll always throw in my 2 cents. It’s probably a simple thing for T10 to do. It’s still my #1 complaint.
Yet I wouldn’t like if there were No traffic…Like a ghost town. So the option to turn it off doesn’t work for me
It does seem to die down during night and seems like a reasonable amount of traffic
Best solution is just a setting that says Light traffic, medium traffic and heavy traffic
And testing tunes… I just need a clear path to hit a top gear, for example… and I may make 20 adjustments in 5 minutes. Definitely not going to keep starting a race over
To me they are not annoying, they just add to the challenge. And this game needs something challenging because apart from 1 speedzone the rest is cake.
That’s a really great idea, to have the ability to drive around the map unencumbered by the absence of traffic and perhaps a feature that can be added To fh4.
While I agree about the traffic and drivatards, I have managed to complete everything, although there are some household items that are broken after trying some of the drift achievements, lol! I understand the whole traffic and realism thing but what I would like to see is the option to turn off all traffic, say after the game is completed or at a certain level where all pr stunts etc have been completed. I would like to be able to drive around in whatever car I like at whatever speed I like and not run into a stupid drivatard, simply just enjoy hooning around the map.
In addition this would also greatly simplify test and tuning, I know there are ways like rivals etc but it still requires that you enter the event run, stop, tune and restart. Would be great to do it on the fly in normal mode and not have to worry about other cars. Although I have a love hate relationship with this game, I really do enjoy it. I purposely bought an xbox just to be able to play this game and now that I have completed everything I am enjoying acquiring cars that I will never be able to drive in real life, would be nice to also enjoy the roads in these cars with no traffic.
