TURN 10 please fix the Nissan r91cp!

Lets face it , we’ve already paid for it. They aint fixing nothing

I can only see them making a car faster not slower, and if they made it have more speed it would be so overpowered. I currently have a few #1s with it. I think it’s balanced right now looking at it from a gaming perspective. By the way, what exactly did they do to the dp? I never heard anything about a patch.

Back when the dlc of the ford daytona prototype came out there was issues with its performance as well. Its PI was too low and it wasnt handling properly i believe. They issued a patch days later and its PI went from P906 to like 922 i believe. Its a much better car now. Which is why id hope they would fix this Nissan but probably too late now.

This isn’t the ONLY bug in this DLC. They also ruined the Ferrari 158-F along with never fixing the Honda RA300

The Summer Car DLC once again hoses up the settings for the Ferrari 158-F F1 car in Free Race Division setting of Legends of Grand Prix. It was already bad enough the Honda RA300 NEVER showed up at all in the mixed race grid but now the Ferrari also joins it as a non-playable car. Those dreams of FINALLY racing a 60’s Ferrari against the Lotus and the rest of the class are again disappointingly vaporized. To be sure, if you pick the Lotus the Ferrari shows up in the mixed grid but if you pick the Ferrari as your car just like the Honda only that car will fill the entire grid! The worst part is that when setting up the race ALL the 60’s cars show up as selectable. COME ON Turn 10 FIX IT already!

As an aside, if you build a Ferrari 488 to GTLM Spec you can’t race it there either. Only the 458 shows up to race. So much for the Ford Vs. Ferrari battle.

The 60’s F1 cars are extremely difficult to drive and offer some of the closest and best racing in the game. Truly a shame you can’t race them all!

Am I the only one who cares this happens???

I couldnt agree more. Its frustrating as id love to mess around with rival cars from certain era’s or divisions but turn10 never fixed it smh. I even upgraded the ferrari f158 to around pi 766 but still only has full grids of other Ferraris, not the other 60s grand prix. Another example is no division for 1930s grand prixs, what the heck? Smh

It doesn’t really matter if from a gaming perspective the car is overpowered, arguably the Jag is overpowered to everything else but that hasn’t been changed. I just wish it was a more realistic portrayal of the car, I mean that’s what we want from car and racing games, don’t we?
The R91CP is very under-powered as it is now, though, I’ve tried running it in lobbies and I’m getting past left, right and centre like I’m driving another class down any sort of straight. It definitely isn’t balanced compared to cars in it’s class, in my opinion. The car was good in real life, so it’s acceptable to assume it would be very fast in it’s class, no?
It is sad that stuff like this keeps cropping up on Forza, and at this point, yes, it is probably just going to be ignored. It’d be nice if there was a reason and we were made aware of it, at least.

So I did some research on the car, and it turns out that by the 1992 season when they finally won daytona, the car was running a WHOPPING 9200 lbs of downforce. The goal of the team that year was to maximize downforce WHILE cutting weight, which ended up with a car that was making close to if not over 10,000 lbs of downforce.while only being 1912 lbs. There was an incident at Road Atlanta where both of r91cp’s entered were lost to tire problems. The cars were making so much downforce that they exceeded the tire load rating making the tires combust! Lol They where making more downforce than any other car in their class, which explains why the car is hitting a brick wall around 170-180 mph.

In reguard to the IMSA version of the r91 making “over 680 PS” the website also states that the car is making “over 784 mm of torque” which I think is well, too presice which is probably why turn 10 rated it at 680 PS and 784 mm of torque.

Now the R90ck is the monster that everyone is looking for, that’s the car that hit 222 mph on the mulsanne straight. Unfortunately it was only running 2,500 lbs of downforce. The Daytona setup for the R90ck only saw the car hit 205 mph on the high speed banks of the circuit, and this was the one spec’d at 800hp.

I hope this helps, I was kind of confused about this also. Forza has a picture of it running down the mulsanne straight which lead me to believe that this was the car capable of doing 230 mph.

Once again I hope this helps.

Cheers.

Thank you for all that information. Wow, that’s incredible, 10,000 lbs of downforce?! Would you mind linking the site so I could look at it myself? Sounds like an incredible read. Sorry I still don’t understand why the car hits a wall at 180 mph? Did they limit it because of the problems they were experiencing and that’s why it is what it is on Forza? Do you know what the car was Spec’ed in the JSPC of '91? I assumed that was the car we were getting and assumed that that spec would breeze past 200 mph.

Yes, I agree, I would love the R90CK. It would be awesome to race the Jag and the Nissan in P class, it would be like we’re living the '90s again, haha!

Lol! Yeah we’ve got the 787b and the 905c, along with the 962c, and the XJR, and now this. It’s actually not so bad, I can manage a sub 6 minute time around the ring and you can take it flat out though most of the high speed corners. I’d imagine it’d be good around a short circuit due to the amount of downforce that it makes, I’m pretty sure this is the best handling car in it’s class, well, here’s how I got to the website:

I simply googled “inside imsa’s legendary gtp + nissan” there should be something that pops up in the google books demo, try page 151-152/3, that’s where you’ll find the r90ck and the r91cp.

Im glad I could help!

Thank you, with Yakov Alfa’s GIF and music, a coffee and some '90s race car reading, my morning is set!

Oh yeah, it’s an absolute dream to drive, plus that turbo noise! I’m not sure about it’s overall competitiveness though. I was racing some P class lobbies with it the other day and I was 2-3 seconds slower than some fast guys in Jags and mazdas on most tracks. I know I’m not the best driver but still it’s a sizeable margin that made sure I was pretty much out of a good race at almost every track we went to. Like I mentioned before, I genuinely felt like I was in a lower class which wasn’t a nice feeling!

10,000lbs of downforce.**

Doh! Sorry, it’s early in the morning here :'D

Well, it looks like I’m right on time! Forget the coffee, have a morning drift instead. ; )

And play this song in the background if you want some atmosphere. But be warned, it may cause you to stare at that gif for awhile. Lol

Oh you think this is bad? Despite several content updates, they have refused to resolve many glaring car bugs:

  • Evo 10 turbo upgrade makes no difference
  • Esprit V8’s headlights barely illuminate the road by 10-15 feet
  • Supra RZ has a “glowy” Forza wing
  • Opposite hand of the driver twitches during paddle shifts

Many more. Those are just off the top of my head.

Your best bet is to report this in the Support section, although I doubt any car bugs are getting fixed. Such a shame really. If they can fix other bugs, they can damn well fix these too… you’re driving CARS 90% if the time for crying out loud!

I guess i can live with it due to all the info thats been given including that 5 tons of downforce! Never even knew that was possible, sheesh lol. Still wish it could go over 200 stock but like one said around twisty tracks it would hold its own well.

Then if this is true and was the design goal, I should be able to go in and set the down force to just about zero and gain the performance of the R90 and actually be competitive. Want to bet I run out of gearing before I hit 200mph? If I’m running about a ton of down force I would be equaling the other Group C cars.

I had some time last night so I worked with this car to see if I could make it competitive. Yes, you CAN! It can actually be a race winner!

I can only speak for myself but it will really depend on how well you can drive a GTP car to make this car a winner. I played it on Free Race with Division setting on Prototypes. Level is Pro with no helpers on and 23 cars in the field and no mandatory pit stops. I used the Powertrain Mod for 7% Power and 3% Traction. Test tracks and races were on the modern Le Mans and Watkins Glen tracks. I’m basically a masochistic racer and actually enjoy racing the 60’s formula one cars and have mastered them. The tougher the drive, the more I like it! This car will test that.

Here’s the setup I used. I assume you’ve already upgraded the car to wider tires and added the mid range restrictor plate. This I believe gets to to P 987. I set tuning to:

Tires at 24 pounds of pressure all around. You want these tires to stick like glue when they get up to temperature and put the most tread on the ground.
Set the top slider for gearing to the left until you get it to 193.7. that’s about a quarter to the right and set this to the last position it reads this. Yep. You’re gonna’ over rev this puppy at the top end.
Set Aero ALL the way to the LEFT. No, it won’t matter to the handling. This is where I think it’s broken.
Set Brake Bias to 60% front. You’re going to need this for stable braking.

I tested at Le Mans and there was absolutely NO grip loss through the corners and it corners as fast as the Ferrari 333SP. Awesome cornering ability and exactly what I expected from this car. Mulsanne top speed was 205MPH and you WILL be in the tach red line but it will hold together. OK, not Peugeot 908 or Porsche 962 fast but good enough. I just plain ran out of gearing as I had guessed would happen. This car could really use a 6th gear!

The race!

Ten lap race. Car will start in the second row behind both Peugeot 908’s. I used a rolling start. You will be passed by 5-6 cars before the first corner. Brake deep at the left hander and don’t hit anything. By the time you hit Mulsanne you’ll be in fourth place and the four cars in front of you will continue to pull away until you hit the top third of 5th gear and you’ll start closing. DRAFT as much as you can! ALL of these cars are faster than you in a straight line. Here’s where driving skill will play into it. You can brake later and deeper into the corners and corner much better than they can and you’ll make up all your time in the Porsche Curves. When running down the straights run the center line and make your one move if a car tries to pass you. Yeah, that means block it but a single move makes it legal. I caught the lead Peugeot 908 at the Ford Chicane at the start of the pit straight and passed it on lap 3. This car will hound you the whole race and will never be more than 700 feet behind you the whole race. You will need fuel at the end of lap 7. It will NOT make it through lap 8. The bright spot is the 908 will also need to fuel so you’ll pit together. You’ll come out first and if you don’t overdrive the car and your driving is spot on you will win the race. Not by much but, you’ll win it.

Also did a ten lapper at Watkins Glen with much the same results but didn’t need to pit. You will make time on the uphill straight after turn 1 mainly because the other cars can’t do the corners there at full throttle. You can. Again, the Peugeots both 908 and 905 will be all over you throughout the race.

This is not a run away easy winning car to drive but it is competitive if set up correctly and driven at its limits. Your driving skill becomes its limiting factor to win. Best of racing luck and give this car another go.

You know, i gave this setup a try and youre correct it is competitive. A few things though, there is some degree of grip loss i feel it especially in the rear. Then comes the top speed which i think where you mention setting the transmission to 193.7 i would set it a tad higher maybe to like 197. Lastly i added heavier rims to keep it under pi 990. I currently have it at p988 which keeps it under modern lmps but at the top of older lmps. Its nearly perfect now.

Thank you. I will try this. I doubt I will win the race but I never really worry about that. Just a fun time is what I’m after. I think the Nissan 92 year car is the 1st Prototype car I fell in love with when playing GT4 in the license tests at LeMans years ago. https://youtu.be/1L655fVzBl0

Yeah, that’s the next step is to remap the entire transmission. Currently third is too short and fourth is not quite long enough and the peugeot’s just eat me alive on the straights. I did a 20 lap race at Le Mans last night to check how well it will do in a distance race with 2 mandatory pitstops. Was really surprised when both 908’s pitted on lap 6 instead of 7 committing them to a 3 pit stop strategy. Still, it was a tight race until lap 19 when they both pitted handing me the win. Best lap time was the race before At 4:33. Last nights average was 4:43.
