For those on the xbox one using the standard xbox one controller, have you noticed that the trigger rumbles are a bit muted?
For example I went to brake and I felt nothing. It was only until I was a fraction before locking up that I felt something. I also noticed when accelerating that it also feels dull.
This is a good bit different from FM6 and is somewhat annoying. I bumped up the vibration setting to like 65 but didn’t notice a difference so I’m not sure what that setting is for.
Any one else who has played FM6 noticed this change?
You are not alone. Coming from FM6 this is the biggest difference for me. I appreciate its more arcade like but the lack of trigger rumble makes braking much more difficult. Not sure if it’s intentional or not to be honest.
They were great when they were introduced in FM5, but in the FH2, FM6 and FH3 they almost feel non existent. As much as I didn’t like 5’s handling model, the trigger rumble was great, you could really feel what the tyres were doing. I wonder why they toned it down so much.
I was wondering why braking felt terrible. Now you mention it I understand. I need vibration when sliding and braking otherwise it feels weird. Hopefully they fix this!
It’s a design decision, they did the same in Horizon 2. It won’t be changed. It is there, just not as pronounced. There is not much split second racing in Horizon, so it makes sense. Forza Motorsport: Rumble gives feedback about your car. Forza Horizon: Rumble gives feedback about the underground your car is driving on. It’s more immersive but costs car control. Which you lose anyway because of 30 Hz.
I switched to ABS on and used the brakes as if I had no abs and there was a little more rumble in the brakes but I was obviously still losing time.
I’ve switched back to no abs and dropped the outside deceleration deadzone a good bit and at times I get a little rumble but not enough to say that it’s a deadzone issue. I’ve concluded it’s just been nerfed which I find odd because FM6 got it right once you learned what the rumbles meant.
Not sure how much this will come I to play, but I’m sure once the game is actually released, maybe a few days after, there’ll be a big update that may fix some of the little annoying things, like that.
I look at the early access as a full blown beta test for developers. I fully expect to see a large update eventually but no telling what will be in it.
Indeed, I forgot the controller even had them. This should be an option in the controller menu as I believe it was in the previous games. Why they removed it is anyone’s guess.
Though it’s T10 we are talking about, “community feedback” is only a theory.
A game theory.
