Transmission damage bug

Hi,

I recently noticed that on every race my transmission shows 4% damage. I thought that maybe my start technique sucks, so I’ve tested that by starting the car like everyday car. Same thing but then I saw that transmission is damaged before I press any button at all.

I’ve checked my steering wheel, my controller but it’s the same.Whats wrong? It happens on Manual/w Clutch setting. On manual and automatic it’s fine. The wear and damage options set to ON obviously with that setting of there’s no damage.

This puts a player using wear and tear in disadvantage. Can this be fixed please?

Thanks

Woah! That’s intense… I’m sure someone here can help you… Hopefully!.. I’m too drunk to even begin to comprehend what could possibly be happening here… But i’m sure there are sober people around!

Queue the sober people to help this person with his crazy 4% damage situation

ive noticed this as well

Hasn’t this been a bug since FM3? Don’t believe they ever addressed it. I’m on a controller, and every time I use man w/clutch, the tranny takes damage after a while no matter how “cleanly” I shift gears. Funny thing is, you don’t hear any bad shifting or rev bouncing during the race, but in replays you do.

Is this during single-player races, or multi-player, or both? Is it possibly an issue of input/output lag, latency? You shift on time on your end, but the server/others perceive you as having shifted late?

Is this with any car, or only certain cars? Certain cars may be more prone to transmission trouble than others? Feature over bug?

Is this car/are these cars lowered all the way? Is it a possibly an issue of bottoming out? Does the game perceive the transmission as being the lowest part of the car?

Is this with a custom tune/an adjustable transmission? Is it an issue of a risky transmission setting, somehow?

I likely can’t be of any help, but any additional information anyone/everyone can provide would surely improve the chances of someone being able to help.

I wouldn’t get too hung up about it.

The physics model attempts to calculate damage and wear but it’s only an approximation. Gearboxes don’t feature neutral and most people map the clutch to a button rather than a trigger so essentially whatever you do you’re either holding the car on the brakes whilst in gear or dumping the clutch. To do things properly the Devs would need to make the game so that it required the elite controller to play or assume players have 10 fingers on each hand.

It’s quite normal to see a little damage/wear when starting a race with manual and clutch.

Right - I believe the man/w clutch feature is a bit of an afterthought and not properly modeled like any other aspect of physics like, say, torque steer.

It even allows you to bypass shift timings for cars with a single-clutch gear box be they stick manual or paddle shifter gearbox.

I wish the game would also automatically remove the man/w clutch when your driving a car with paddle shifters.

Some of my fellow wheel users tell me there’s also a lack of oomph and engine bark on the downshifts when using a set of pedals. Is that true? Do you only hear that wonderful downshift grown on controller w/normal manual only?

This has been a bug since launch in FM6, at least. I believe it doesn’t happen in multiplayer or test drive, but does in rivals and possibly single player if you have damage set to simulation. You’ll be faster in rivals if you run cosmetic damage, so something to look into.

I would really be in trouble if we needed 10 fingers on each hand. I only have 2 fingers on my right hand and the normal 5 on my left hand,

I’m now using the Thrustmaster TMX Pro wheel with 3 pedals and I use the paddles and use “Manuel” shift only and that seems to be OK

The shifts seem to be fast. with the paddles.

Whilst i’ve seen damage from user input i’ve never once seen a situation where i’ve started a race with transmission damage before any input whatsover - i use a controller, manual/w clutch and do lots of full simulation racing in a mixture of private/league lobbies.

Are you able to post a gamedvr vid of what you’re talking about or give more detailed steps on how to replicate the issue (such as which game mode/track/car) as i’d very much like to see this with my own eyes.

been around since they released the game. 4% damage, before you even touch the controller. i got sick of trying to get it sorted. as so many people will tell you that you are shifting wrong, or something…
like people cant read the post properly, or are replying before they take in what has been said…

only way to stop it, is to turn damage off when hotlapping.

oh yeah, it only seems to happen in rivals mode…
