Transmission Always Damaged

I just noticed that my car’s transmission always has 4% damage. This is the case with all cars at the start of any event, before I’ve even done anything. It’s only 4%, so it’s not terribly detrimental to the vehicle’s performance, but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

Note: I’ve only checked it using manual with clutch. I haven’t tried using automatic or manual.

yes in free play but not in multiplayer, very strange !

happens to me too, always 4 percent

It happens if you release the clutch too quickly. If you hold the clutch for a long time each shift you will notice it stays at 0%. If you shift very fast with a stock transmission and clutch you can actually hear a very slight grind when you shift. Finding the sweet spot is difficult so I just don’t worry about the very minor damage. I still just shift as fast as I can…

You are correct, but OP is saying his tranz has 4% damage right at race launch, before he’s even shifted. An aggressive launch shouldn’t be messing up his transmission that much.

(well, maybe in an Enzo IRL.)

Same here. 4% damage at the very beginnig of the race. I play manual with clutch as well. Game has more bugs than the actual number of tracks.

Inside Sim Racing was doing a video of FM6 and noticed this, they even showed where if you started the race and did not even move the car the trans was damaged.

Back to the OP. At the start the engines are revving, if you bang the revs into the red before the off you could be damaging the motor not the transmission. Every time you rev into the redline on sim damage the engine will get damaged irrespective of what you do with the clutch and gears… No damage showing in multiplayer would make sense as all multiplayer is cosmetic damage only.

Just checked, and, apparently, this doesn’t affect test drive, though it does affect career mode and rivals. It also only happens when using manual with clutch.

Are you forced to play with simulation damage on Endurance events?

If you have the choice wouldn’t switching to cosmetic damage be a work around for now?

I don’t know, as I haven’t tried any of them yet. It’s only 4% damage, which isn’t really a big deal, so I’ll just leave simulation damage on.

Your damaging the transmission at the race start. If you’re using manual with clutch, you have to hold the clutch during the countdown, releasing it at the start of the race.

If you just rev up like with the manual or automatic transmission, the car will get 4% damage to the transmission. It´s the same amount every time you fail to use the clutch while changing gears. The game understands that if you start the race without the clutch, you botched a gear change.

It’s not that. It happens even if I hold the clutch the whole time. The transmission is damaged before I press any buttons, so it’s not due to not using the clutch at the start (which you don’t have to do in any other Forza game.)

I’m wondering if its to limit the blatant advantage of the manual/clutch has over anyone else that doesn’t use it. The advantage is there with turning other aids off, sometimes, but this one was always way more of an advantage once you got used to it.

It seems a logical reason as to why its always at 4% for manual/clutch users.

I’ve noticed this as well. Also noticed that on some cars, specifically either one of the Audi’s that you can use in the Sebring Endurance race…if you come to a dead stop, push the clutch in, red line the revs, and then dump the clutch…the car goes…nowhere. Up to 3 mph, and then back to a stop again. When the race started, I was run into by the AI because I couldn’t get the car to move forward. :frowning:

Unfortunately, using the A button as the clutch, there is no way to “feather” or slip it…it’s either full on or full off…

Anyone else experience this?
