Tokyo Xtreme Racer

I loved this Japanese highway racer on the Sega Dreamcast & noticed a few Preview videos of a 2025 version from the original developer’s have started appearing on YouTube .
I read somewhere that it was available on early access now on Steam. I was wondering if anyone had picked it up if it was still a fun racing experience & if there were any plans to bring it to console.
Although it was pretty basic on the Dreamcast it was a very addictive & fun arcade racer with stunning graphics for the time.
I used to love upgrading my car then go out night racing though traffic on that iconic highway against a single opponent that i’d tracked down & flashed my headlights at.

I’ve only seen a few videos but it looks pretty good. I hope it comes to consoles as well, would love to try it.

That what im hoping for as well @LuculentPigeon8 , a console release. I think it would be crazy for them not to.

It’s a fantastic game! I never had the chance to play any of the previous titles in the series, but wow, this one is awesome! The game doesn’t throw cars at you like Forza does, so it may feel a bit grindy, but it’s still very fun.
There are over 200 rivals to beat, and it’s still only in early access. (I believe the full game is going to be released sometime this June.) The later rivals can be pretty hard to beat, even with maxed-out cars, but to be honest, I prefer a challenge over the easy AI in Forza.
Unfortunately, more than half of the cars and tuning options are locked behind the final boss. I hope they’ll change this later on.
Otherwise, the graphics are impressive even on a mid-range graphics card with an ultrawide display.
I can’t but recommend this game.

Brilliant. Thats pretty similar how it played on the Dreamcast. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on it to see if a console version gets announced.
Thanks @SyselSyslo
