Tire wear in Featured Multiplayer | Update 13

Agreed. Just remove the tiyre options. Its now utterly
Pointless with the exception of a couple of tracks.

I’ve literally zero interest in going
Back to how the game was as launch. Everyone running same strat. Its a weird decision from
T10 amd I’m genuinely struggling to
Understand the reasoning

I need to hotlap Nordschleife in the AMR Pro again to verify this. That thing is already flat through 90% of the corners around there.

Understood.

As Multiclass uses time races with that annoying race finish procedure I’ve been avoiding them.

I stick to single class races where previously wear was 6.0x

Just wondering why you dislike soft tyres so much? You mention it a awful lot you see.

Becouse it’s not balanced with street and sport tyres, also with each car have different tyre wear rate, making some meta cars being able to run softs, while other don’t, that’s why. I just want everything to be more balanced…

Eg. x6 B class Nord gp 3 laps in b class, Exocet can run softs here, while almost everything else needs to run mediums, not only Exocet is meta on this type of acceleration tracks, it can also run better compound, it’s just too broken.

With X4 on mugello, suzuka gp, or maple, there will be big advantage for formula mazda in a class, and elemental in s class that will allow them to run softs, while most of other cars will need to use mediums.

To keep it short, softs are just unfair advantage in race, for meta cars to make them more meta…

If u need to run mediums in race, and u got car that can’t finish race on mediums (any 2000kg brick on suzuka gp in a class), u can just slap sports and be competive against race tyre users… But with soft meta, it’s impossible… (Pi calculation is done on mediums)

So it’s more of car balancing issue than a tyre issue.

I’d like to see more done in that regard myself.

For the record I’ve never driven the Exocet. And the p550 is ugly. In fact the Exocet is even uglier. Scaffolding on wheels…

I run the Opel Kadett in lower classes and I know full well I’m going to get beat by the 550s and mx5 (when paired with a decent driver)

If I do manage to finish ahead of one - happy days.

Well there was always soft meta in E-C class, that’s why I never races there. Too much grip too slow cars.

And I always race in B, A and sometimes S (too many rammers there), it got nice balance between tyre choices, but now with X4… Well I guess it’s time to abandon this ship and play different game… sad that horizon multiplayer is dead…

They like running non-race tyres and are annoyed that that isn’t the optimal strategy in a racing game.

Exocet is definitely an ugly car, but a properly tuned one feels like a big go-kart, lots of fun :slightly_smiling_face:

No, we want to just have balance within the tire compounds. PI is calculated for mediums. Thus, they should be paired up with every other compound.
Softs for qualy/Rivals, races locked to mediums with low enough wear multiplier to make it without wear over the short distance.
Done. Nothing more.

Every previous Motorsport had it right.

I mentioned elsewhere before that all tyre compounds should be decoupled from the upgrade and PI system, and tyres should be allocated based on race type.

That’ll require significant work on all cars in the game though, so it’ll never happen.

Instead, I think races should have mandatory tyres as an upgrade filter/setting, much like how the Mid Engine series limited people to Mid Engine cars or other series limit cars based on their PI or drivetrain.

I’ve put in a suggestion for that on Private Multiplayer, which should hopefully be easier to implement than redesigning the entire upgrade system. Maybe worth having in Featured too in specific events, though I reckon Turn 10 will keep the Open classes “open” as they’re intended to have no build restrictions other than PI.

I totally agree that tire wear on short races should remain at x6 wear - otherwise it’s just a soft tires spam fiesta. (feedback)
But what about medium races with x4 tire wear? Medium tires don’t last an entire medium length race so race tire users are forced to use hard tires, right? And aren’t sport tires better than hard race tires?

I’m sure it is. I race bumper cam so don’t see my car anyway.

Part of the fun for me is looking for hidden gems that are competitive even though not meta.

The HLC events on here threw up some surprises in that regard.

Some cars I just like such as the Kadett which I’ll always think of a Vaux Chevette lol!

I love the versatility of the S2000 too.

Personally speaking, tyre strategy gets in the way. I can and do tolerate it but I’d be just as happy with 1 tyre choice with wear off.

Yep. Which is also a problem. The whole tire balance doesn’t work.
Either remove soft/medium/hard and do a general race tire or set stock/street/sport on mediums wear level. To prevent overcutting race tires.

When medium length races were 6x everyone used streets to overcut sports/race tires.
All tires which are calculated by PI should have the same wear level. Then tire choice would be simply a choice. As it always had been.

The way it is now you are constantly forced to rebuild cars for the various different events if you want to get the maximum performance. It’s tedious.

so to put it short:

Short races meta: race tires builds using soft tires
Medium races meta: sport tires builds to avoid using hard race tires

Tbh for OPEN multiplayer, the best option would be to somehow “ban” soft tyres, disable tyre wear and fuel use [always set to 100%] that would fix many balance issues. [like it was in fm7]

So the solution for Open multiplayer is to Close it, got it.

Looks like we got clash between hardcore players and fast casuals like me… XD
I do look for more “arcade” racing in simcade game.

Make game more skill focused, not Car focused  [make cars more balanced]
