Time trials gone?

I can’t find a way to go for a time trial and climb the leaderboards in a car of my choice. Am I blind or did they actually not implement a time trial mode?

Rivals=Time Trials.

but they mean the old rivals by class and leaderboard … and that is removed in fm7…

Yeah - and now instead of ‘leaderboard cars’ which you essentially have to use to be quick, it’s now based on car division. So it’s actually fair, balanced, and competitive.

I think this will make me use a whole heap more cars that I would never have normally used. People need to get a grip over losing their broken PI/class based leaderboards and cars, and look at the positives of the new system.

(Having said that, for single player I do believe that cars should be allowed to be upgraded however they want).

no its not positive!! im not the only one that have their favorite cars to use in more " classes " , A,B,S with the same car fine tuned … now you cant… and i hate this restiction!! ok now the cool thing is the " homologation " … give me the ability to " homologate " the car i like not only in the class that is born…

and again for the new: hotlap → time challenge against other ->without a proper leaderboard you cant hotlap , clear?

If you were good enough, in many classes there were many cars to choose from that were competitive. You didn’t have to use the leaderboard cars but you did have to learn how to manipulate PI in your favor.

Hell late in FM6 I discovered a top 10 car that nobody thought to use because everyone assumed the top car listed was the only way to go.

With exception to some of the higher classes there were literally hundreds of competitive cars to choose from. You just had to figure out where.

There’s already dominate cars appearing within homologation. Nothing has changed really except maybe some more high class competitive cars.

Agreed. The only thing I see it doing is preventing so of the crazy frankinstain builds. Buthe the down side it’s going to severely what each can be used for and more Civic vs trans-am type battles that were away fun.

Personally I love the idea of homologation as a secondary classification, like division were implement in FM6. But for the primary classification, seem very limited. I see getting very stale quick.

I agree I think done properly the car divisions will promote much closer racing. What I don’t understand is why we don’t have division based leaderboards in rivals.

For those that want to hotlap - go to freeplay, select your track and number of laps and remove the AI. Then complete your race and you can then access your leaderboard placement. However this will still be by division unless you select the relevant option when setting up the race which will then lump your time into an open leaderboard which is all classes put together.

Actually, you can still access the leaderboards without having to race. In free play, go to setup>track selection>choose layout, hover over the track you want and press Y to view the leaderboard for your current car division. Run as many laps as you want, then finish the race or quit when satisfied. Your time will be saved.

It’s actually quite nice having all your cars on hand along with the upgrade shop. I’ve got a couple of #1 times in the modern hot hatch and classic muscle car divisions because of them.

This. Homologation or class-based, there are no time-trial hotlap modes in the game currently.

This is a huge miss by Turn10.

This was a terrible work around. Was needlessly messy… you couldn’t see leaderboards prior to, you could race your ghost or a friends… it’s terribly organized. I don’t have an issue with trying to fix the PI system. But car divisions were very unclear. You want to add a HP limit to B class cars? Sure, makes sense. Tire limits to D class? Ok. But make it clear and simple. This game’s class/division suffers a lack of clarity and cohesiveness. It’s just a total mess.

That’s not hotlapping. That’s running a race with a limited number of laps, just without any competition.

A lot of the car divisions already have a dominant car already, so it really doesn’t fix anything.

Guys, I am not talking about broken leaderboard cars. All I want is to pick a car, a track and race against my own ghost (or a friend’s). Like, you know, in a time trial mode. It is baffling to me that turn 10 actively took that out of Forza.

Unfortunately I’ve looked long and hard and it appears Time Trials isn’t present, pretty frustrating as in pretty much every racing game I loved picking a car, ghost and track of my choice and attempting to set some top times.

One other thing is that it seems the leader boards are only visible after a single player race, which is kinda weak as it has loads of view modes and filters but why wouldn’t they make this accessible from main menu? combine ‘free play’ with it at least.

Rivals is where you’ll be doing your time trials. However, if by TT mode you mean hotlapping, you can go to single race or single player I think it’s called - there’s a free play option there. Pick a track, pick a rental and that’s it.

Though I haven’t figured out how to access the various track ribbons. Anybody?

That’s a shame. Hot laps and racing my ghost was one of my favorite things to do in the previous versions. There is no way to do this in 7?

No.

I miss it greatly too.

Doesn’t look like it at the moment :frowning:

Isn’t the game officially released today? Has Auction House etc opened up?

Same here, I’ve been doing leaderboard laps since forza 4 and it’s become one of my favorite modes. And now it’s gone? I really hope there’s something we’re missing, because that to me is one of the most important game modes.

I’ve gotten to the top 25 in the world for Nurburgring before and it’s always been my goal to hit the top.

At this point I really don’t know what to say about forza 7 now that this is lobbed into the mix along with the VIP bonus scandal, the weather progression and night racing only being on certain tracks, homologation, no option for class racing only, multiplayer being severely reduced atm, and game breaking bugs/stuttering issues/crashes all occurring on PC.

I’ve been a massive forza fan since I first started playing back in FM4, but this is such a huge culmination of things that have gone wrong that I might consider this being my final forza purchase.
