Time and current lap being light against the sky seems a bizarre design choice

In a game that boasts about features for players with visual impairments I find it very strange this is the default view?

Other, considerably less relevant text at least gets some form of shadow box to make it easier to see by offering a contrast. To use white against the sky which is often light white/grey for the most commonly looked at indicators we use is mind-blowing to me.

Would it not make more sense to offer a similar darker, higher contrasting background to these text fields, and let users turn it off in a sub-menu if they prefer?

This would be very nice! Especially with the insane brightness of the game.
