Although the wheel is supported, when I start a race, the game does not see wheel nor throttle and brake input. The game does see input from all the buttons on the wheel though…???

Are you trying us the wheel on PC or Xbox?

I will turn everything off and on again and see what happens.
I have exact same problem with my Fanatec CSW V2 with the Xbox hub.
Ok turned everything off, plugged in my wheel and started the xbox from the wheel. Game now asks which profile to use. Everything works fine now with the wheel.

Me too! Tried FM6 and all worked went back to FM7 demo and asked which profile and now works. Do you get a strange vibration when rear wheels slip?
Think that will be normal. I set my force feedback in the advanced wheel settings to 80 instead of the default 100, might help you.
