Still working on a Lamborghini tune at the moment but I did a few GT races last night before the Hopper closed. It was generally quite clean, save for the odd driver outbraking themselves. The no-chicane Monza was a highlight, very close.
I have an Lamborghini Setup online. It is so nice to drive. Very easy and fast. I have an Daytona Tune for it too…i will upload it today in the evening. I was #4 Worldwide with it on Daytona short yesterday. The Z4 and the Aston might be faster timebased but only if the driver is one of the topdrivers in the Game. Ended as 3rd in 3 Races in a row in a 20+ player lobby in pinnacle. Try it out and have fun with it.
The IndyCars are great however, very planted and you can really attack the corners with them. Unfortunately, the best laptimes are a few seconds off of Hardcore E23 laptimes, which in turn are 6 seconds off of what a TCS user can do in the Lotus.
Just did a few hours in the GT League. The lobbies were bigger tonight which lead to a lot of first lap incidents but I still had a few good races.
The Lamborghini I was tuning has run into some snags so I tried out the BMW Z4 instead, and with the stock setup it felt pretty good. I’ll need to tune out the oversteer before doing another session though, it’s holding me back.
Having struggled and tuned and struggled again with the BMW Z4 and Lamborghini Gallardo, I finally found a car I was happy with for the GT League, the Audi R8. I ran a few races in it tonight with a near-stock setup and it felt very planted and competitive.
Unfortunately however, the driving standards of a number of “Pinnacle” drivers left a lot to be considered. In addition to mid-grid drivers opting not to compete (and those causing start line pileups due to their inactivity) there were a number of competitors in my lobby who were simply disrespectful when in close-quarters with other drivers. Persistent bumper-pushing, door-banging and in extreme cases severe corner cutting meant that I had more frustrating than enjoyable racing to content with tonight. I ended up reporting about 6 drivers over the course of an hour, 1 after every race.
In any case I’m now in an R8 and will do some minor tuning in Saturday; hopefully the racing will be cleaner during the weekend as I’m quite enjoying the potential battles that these cars can have.
Anyone had issues getting into the X league? When I try to enter, it can never find a match, but I can get into the GT league no worries whatsoever. Does FM6 not allow lobbies of 1 person? Its the only reason I can think of that stops me getting to race in the X league - that I am the only one (bit like the Highlander, except I’ll die…)
I am from New Zealand, so maybe all the other drivers are just sheep and don’t want to race??? Baaaaaa
What is your division ? I drive in professional and there´s usualy 10 - 12 people. When Nordschleif came in there is like 2-3 people (including myself). Some people try to race in Indy, but they usualy left too, since there is no chance against Lotus F1.
My first week in Pinnacle league has been an eye opener, the R880 contact league is both exciting and frustrating. I’ll list my thoughts as the good, the bad and the ugly:
The good:
+++ Respect to the very fastest racers because they set some blistering times. I’ve been in races with some of the top leaderboard players and they are often many seconds ahead of the pack. I’m lucky to be within 2-5 seconds of their lap times. This I see as a positive, it’s Pinnacle League and has made me want to improve once more. (I was easily running top 7 in most Elite races last week by contrast.)
Once the races settle down (more on that below) there is some truly exciting close and fair racing with players of a similar skill level to be had. I’m no more than mid pack pace, and sometimes bottom 3 but the races are still enjoyable.
The very fastest racers are mostly polite, apologise for errors by voice or message and I for one greatly appreciate this.
Staying in the same lobby for as long as possible has great benefit. My starting position became better matched with drivers of similar ability and as a result the races were better from the off. It is almost like a qualifying lap time kicks in after a few races. Others bouncing in and out of lobbies spoils this to some degree.
The bad:
The first lap behaviour is still utter chaos. I do not understand why players cannot wait for the race to settle and take sensible overtaking opportunities. Players expecting to be able to launch into the first corner at full speed is a huge issue. Easing off early because the pack is already going through the corner or to avoid and incident results in one of more cars arriving full speed from behind. It is the single most frustrating part of the game. If people just waited out the first few corners and let the race pace settle everyone would enjoy a better experience.
Non starting cars not ghosting out causes huge problems too, these often spoil a race before it begins.
Spinning cars randomly not ghosting out. Sometimes cars that have hit barriers or spun ghost out but many times they don’t, this often means innocent passing cars get caught up in someone else accident. It would be much better if there was consistency, either cars always ghost or never ghost then I’d know where I stood.
Slowing to avoid accident and incidents is often seem by others as a chance to force and ram their way through. If another car slowing presents a clean overtaking opportunity then great take it. The problem at the moment is as I slow to avoid some incident I’m often smashed into by others who simply refuse to slow for anything. This makes attempting to race fairly utterly frustrating.
The ugly:
— Lack of any track limits. Many tracks are rendered almost pointless to race - Yas Marina, Watkins Glen (first corner!!!), Silverstone, LM Bugatti - due to the blatant corner cutting. This in turn leads to cars appearing out of nowhere on track and causing further accidents that would and should not be possible. Cars running back on to the track at Silverstone at full speed with others exiting slow corners makes the game pointless. Please don’t suggest the answer is simply to use the same cheating tactics - if I wanted that I’d play NFS or Mario Kart.
— Inability of mid pack racers to judge their ability, speed in slower corner and execute a pass cleanly.
— Online language - the odd swear word is understandable with the frustration online racing can cause but the language in the lobbies is often just utter foul mouthed drivel. Last night one player went on a 2 minute rant against another player. There is no need for this and surely there must be software that can detect it and stop it (FIFA can pick up swearing in the game and cheekily sends a message from the Board warning the player of future conduct). I just have to wonder if any of these people realise how pathetic they actually sound.
— Over the week I’ve noticed more crashing and fewer clean racers as I imagine they’ve been driven away by the psychotic behaviour of a few. This is shame and they are all that will be left online before long.
Overall Pinnacle League fast lap times aside just doesn’t feel very Pinnacle at all. I’m not sure the races would look much different to grassroots league if they were viewed side by side. These certainly aren’t the cream of Forza players in terms of both pace and behaviour and being Pinnacle should surely mean both.
I hope this system can eventually match people by both pace and temperament and I’ll give it another couple of weeks to settle. After that I’m off to back to play something with more well defined rules and a community that doesn’t think every other word begins with an F.
Last night the gt league in professional was very good. Only the usual first turn incidents other than when I lost it while leading at bernese alps in the z4. Didn’t get to see who was in 2nd in the dbr9 but sorry for ruining your race as well. All in all mostly good clean racing.
Side note the z4 appears to be more of a track specific type car. Great at Silverstone full and Long Beach full. Not so good at Daytona, Brands Hatch, Yas Marina type tracks unless you’re good at tuning gears for more top end and stay off the curbs. (Yanks my rearend around…lol)
I had some good races in Pinnacle this weekend, although the Audi R8 wasn’t the best car to use against all those Aston Martins (it’s the best choice for Monza/Daytona though). Should this League return in future I’ll most likely tune up an Aston of my own in order to stay competitive.
I spent the time tuning an S2000 in the end. Got a B-Class build sorted and set a Top 100 time in it. Should be able to find another second when I tweak the suspension
Yeah I noticed A Class ghost league last night late. By the time I went to join, the lobby was closing. Just leave the league lobbies open, PLEASE! It’s so incredibly stupid to have them close.
The other league this week is B class Rally Legends, I think . I’ll stick to A class ghosts.
