These are the restrictions for the R/900 Ghost League. It is not currently known whether or not 1970s Grand Prix cars can be used in this event but if we are to take the Event Restrictions at face value, then they will be eligible for use.
It seems 70s f1 is not included which is a good move. So far a good variety of cars and intense racing. 6 laps of spa was full on. Top three separated by under a second.
If that’s the case it should say it in the event restrictions as right now the game implies that they’re legal.
Just checked the R League and you cannot select the F1 cars. Looking at the lobby settings there is nothing there that would prohibit them, so it’s basically a hidden switch in the backend that has blocked those cars from online play.
I am okay with those cars being blocked on principle, but would prefer if people knew about the restriction in-game before they make the decision to buy one of those cars (which is more important now that the Token system is in place). Right now somebody could be fooled into buying a car because they think it is eligible, and then forced out of that car when they try to race online.
One of the Turn 10 team was in the Compacts Hopper this evening and he shed some light on why ineligible cars are not shown.
It turns out that when creating the lobby settings for a Hopper, Turn 10 have an additional menu where they can “blacklist” or “whitelist” additional cars. With some events if every black/whitelisted car was shown in the Event Restrictions, the list could be very long, which is why the list is not shown. I suggested that a list of eligible/ineligible cars could be posted online by Turn 10 when a League starts and the Turn 10 member seemed receptive to that idea.
As the 70s Grand Prix cars dominate the Leaderboards, they were marked as ineligible for the League. I’ll update the opening post tomorrow when I’m on a desktop PC.
Currently doing my first R/900 run before the Compact League opens, and am doing reasonably well with the #31 Lancia Turbo. The #007 Aston Martin DBR9 seems to be a popular pick for most circuits with the Ultima GTR being the top straight-line speed car.
That is true, is love to be able to use my Maserati trofeo as the noise it makes is amazing, unfortunately it is four seconds a lap slower than my zonda round nurb gp so I’m sticking to the road cars. Plus I do love the looks of the zonda.
The Compacts League is pretty well-balanced, almost every car in the category is competitive. Had some large, clean races in Pinnacle while trying out a bunch of cars.
There pretty much all LB cars. Most will have the 1.6 or 5.7 in them. It would be more intresting if they ban engine conversion, atleast from a tuners point a view.
Some of the cars can also use the Rally engine, giving a big acceleration boost. It’s a little tricky to handle in these however as they’re so lightweight and the boost can kick you sideways if it comes in at the wrong time.
Ya, everyone getting disconnected every other race got very annoying, but the few races we finished were really good. I’m sure I got disconnected from as many races as I finished last night. Finally gave up and watched some TV.
I put close to half an hour in trying to race - closest I got was a start at SPA and was disconnected before 1st turn. And rejoining and seeing half the lobby I was just in -meant it wasn’t my internet connection.
Hopefully it will be better toward week end when I can get on again.
Thanks PJ this is very helpful - though have to admit - I spend a lot of time getting 1970 F1 cars ready - to find that they weren’t eligible. (Not your fault - Kind of weird that wasn’t stated by T10 earlier in the restrictions. I understand why and I’m not begrudging them being left out. Just wish I knew it ahead of time as I spend a bunch of time in the ghost leagues now and Its nice to try and be competitive.
Heheh, ya, I saw that R would be the next ghost league, so early Sunday afternoon I started going through the LBs looking for cars/tunes. Bought a Ferrari 312 and the Lotus and did some rivals to get used to them before the league started. Then when the league opened, I joined and found they couldn’t be used. lol. Oh well. $3.4 mil. lesson learned. The old weird looking McLaren race car isn’t that much slower anyway.
Had the most fun in Leagues tonight ever. My first time in League’s toninght ( could never connect before ) and did 15 races in total. Did 3, got disconnected, gone straight back and did 12 races without any hassle or disconnect. AND won a few too and a few podiums. Yes the “ghost league” might not be “real” as some say, but certainly light years better than the crashcars in the public hoppers and certainly very very much fun. BIG thanks T10 and whoever helps with it.
And to the guys I raced with, big thanks for some close racing. Was really big fun and surely hope to find you online again. Dont worry, I’ll make sure I get to know the RIO track. LOL…
