Looking forward to the Sim league. I have a wide choice of cars that I am going to use.
Lotus Elise 05
Buick Regal GNX
Honda S2000 with 3 different tunes depending on track.
Ford Lotus Cortina which is a beast of a car if driven correctly!
Nissan Fairlady Z 03 for speed.
Mazda Cosmos
As its been a while since I raced in B class I think I shall spend tonight in the B class hoppers.
Would have preferred a sim supercar league. Does Pinnacle really need a distinction between the contact leagues? I don’t think there’s anyone in the division who doesn’t know HOW to race clean, there’s just a few who choose not to because they don’t have to when damage is off.
Oh man! Super bummed I didn’t get bumped to Pro, guess I need to get more lap time in. Would’ve really liked to race the Sim league…guess I’m off to go tune an early super
You can still make it. Just run another league without starting Sim. If you get up enough Sim will switch to Elite. But if you start before the bump you’ll be locked in.
You can be promoted at any time, but any league you’ve already started will be completed at that level.
So, say two new leagues start on a Sunday - a ghost and a contact league. If you didn’t touch the contact league and only raced the ghost one, and did well enough, you might get promoted on say Tuesday. You would stay in your current division in that ghost league but any other new one you started would be the higher division, including the contact league that’s running concurrently.
So if you do well enough this week the Sim league will appear as soon as you get promoted.
Unfortunately you have no way to tell how close you are to getting promoted, so you’ll just have to nail it.
Thanks for clearing that up. I did wonder when I first started the leagues how I was grass roots in one and enthusiast in another. Makes sense now. I’ll stick to ghost then and hope sim pops up.
Hi PJTierney. Took both your Honda and Mazda to the B class Hoppers tonight for some practice.
Had one race with the Mazda on Road America (2 laps) in a full lobby. Came from way back on the grid (18th) and ended 4th. Really enjoyed the car and will definately be my first choice for the more speedy tracks. Compliments on the tune and thanks for sharing it.
Also had one race on Watkins Glen (3 laps) with about 18 drivers. Also a great all round car and solid handling, but I might struggle with it in the leagues. Not because the car is at fault, but people seems to choose “rockets” in Elite class with which pace the Honda cannot keep up with from the starting line. So fall back quite a few places at the start. I do catch up quickly through the corners, but passing remains a tough task against some of these “rockets”, not because they to fast, but they swerve all over the place through corners. In Pinnacle this would be a great car cause the drivers will choose their cars more wisely and not want to shoot everything out of their way. Hope you understand what I’m trying to say. Anyway, thanks for sharing it, will race it in leagues and see what it does.
On a side note - the B class hoppers seemed rather clean and respectfull tonight. I might just have been lucky, but it sure was nice.
Thanks for trying them out; I totally get your point about Watkins Glen, it’s tougher to pass cars in the corners than on the straights which is why the Mazda performs better in traffic. In Pinnacle most drivers run near enough to their Hotlap pace which would make the S2000 a more viable option there.
The MX5’s not a “pure speed” tune but rather a car that does well on circuits that have some longer straights. It was built for Sebring where acceleration is important but not so important that you can ignore how the car handles (unlike Daytona).
I also recommend EMW IVORBIGUN’s Datsun 2000 and Lockeye86’s Lancer Evo VIII; they’re the only cars I run in B that I haven’t tuned myself.
Sim will be awesome with the only cap being PI
It ll be interesting to see the types and mixes of cars that line up on the grid
But for the love of god,NO WRECKING!!!
First impressions of the Sim League have been good in Pinnacle so far; plenty of variety and clean racing. The longer battles are interesting too, many close finishes already.
This might be a good idea. So far it’s been just okay. I still had one race where a guy who wasn’t doing well decided that he might as well start hanging back to crash the leader (me.) After reviewing the replay it was clear that he was a sore loser and crashed others so I reported him.
There have been some good races though too. I think later in the week the poor racers will (hopefully) just play in the regular collision league and leave Sim alone.
Very disappointed that the lower leagues (I’m in professional) don’t have sim racing to be honest it’s needed most in these as people need to learn how to be careful rather than going fast (including myself sometimes) . The sim damage would really help. I just hope it trickles down.
On a more positive note the sure cars look awesome so many iconic cars, and I’ve noticed there’s much cleaner and fun racing to be had in hoppers and leagues recently. Had a really good stint on 1970s f1 hopped which is a lot of fun.
