Multiplayer League Hoppers
February 7 through February 14
Use this thread to share tips, car suggestions, and experiences.
League leaderboards are ordered by points which accumulate from all your played sessions during the week.
Points per race = finish position inverted + bonus for finishing higher than players with a higher skill rating. See the League Info thread or FAQ for explanation about skill rating and Division placement. Credit payouts for each division are awarded based on the leaderboard after the League has reached its end date.
See ManteoMax.com or KudosPrime.com or this thread for a list of cars by Division. Unless otherwise specified, Leagues use Damage=Cosmetic, Collisions=On, Tuning=Allowed, Upgrades=Allowed to the maximum of the specific class restriction. Cars must be currently configured to meet the lobby restriction to appear as available options in the Rent/Buy/My Cars lists, so the list of Rental cars may be partial or empty.
Sim League This league is only open to players in the Pinnacle and Elite divisions.
The year limitation excludes the Aston Martin DBR9 and the BMW #92 M3. The Maserati won’t appear in the Rent Car menu for this league but you can buy one, upgrade it, and choose it from your garage.
You might also find some tips in the previous R880 Modern GT Racing league thread.
Note that many of these cars are C and D class and they won’t show up in the Rent Car options but you can buy them and upgrade them to choose them from your garage.
Well I’ll be in the sim league again had some good races this week, hopefully will be more of the same. Modern GT cars were good last time around, not sure about the 2010 restriction though. I hope I’m wrong but I’ve got a feeling the BMW Z4 is going to dominate I seem to remember it being one of the more popular cars last time, along with the Aston and M3. May have been better to exclude this car as well to really freshen the grid up and force everyone into different cars and setups.
The last time this showed up (non-Sim) the Aston Martin was by far the most popular car, which explains the 2010 restriction.
Since then however the Nissan GT-R has been released which should mix things up a little.
I don’t like the way the GT-R drives however so I’ll have to find something else; was in an Audi for the majority of the previous League and it wasn’t competitive enough. Did have some good racing though:
Yeah its good that the Aston has been restricted out, but from what I remember the Z4 was just as competitive which leads me to think it will now dominate the lobbies like the Aston did. I may be wrong though
You really think so? I tested out most of the cars earlier today and the GTR was not that good IMO. It has terrible turbo lag and not terribly good top end. Even trying to keep the turbo spooled mid-corner it wasn’t cutting it.
To me, the Audi R8, BMW Z4, Viper, Masarati and maybe even the Mercedes all felt better. These are my own tunes though so maybe I’m missing something with the GTR. But it felt slow, and the lap times backed that up.
I did a test around Sebring club at night using the Z4 & Nismo. I found the Nismo to be around 1.5 sec slower.
Im really looking forward to the league even if everyone is using the same car. Reason being we won’t have the massive difference in cars/tunes compared to last weeks sim league.
Another issue I wish to raise is those quitting if the car is damaged. Now I never race for the points but it is disappointing to start a race with 12 people only for 10 to quit. This did happen to me last week and I feel the points should be based on how many started the race rather than finished. I can understand why some quit but I pesonally always used to pit and go on a hotlapping session. Obviously by doing this you stand a greater chance of starting the next race from the front.
I brought up this issue last month in the cam-an series. I got destroyed in the first corner pile up and endurance a distant 24th. I charged hard and got up into 12th by the end of the race. But everybody quit behind me and I only got 100 points. Very bad setup and needs change.
Having played in the sim league all week I still think pinnacle should only have two leagues per week, having three open at the same time spreads the people to thin. I wanted to try out the early super car league one evening but the lobbies were dead. Looking at the leaderboards the sim league has twice the number of participants and a lot higher scores, hardly seems worth having two contact leagues open in pinnacle there just aren’t enough players.
I have multiple tunes for it but I believe the most effective is the 5.2 handling version that just last night I put #2 overall on Watkins Glen Full (#1 Commodore). I did make some slight changes to it and it’s now public if you’re interested.
It’s extremely good on the bigger tracks. Watkins Glen, Spa, etc.
Personally, I think the non-Ghost League should always be Sim-based in Pinnacle, as there aren’t enough players to sustain 3 Hoppers and those that do compete are generally skilled enough to avoid damage in most cases.
Agree. Sim damage isn’t an issue in pinnacle. It doesn’t make much difference since everyone knows how to race and contact tends to be light.
Although B class may have made that easy, the GT racers might tell a different story.
Can you image what Can-Am would have been like with damage? So far the Can-Am league has been the exception rather than the rule though.
I think the Can-Am league was more an anomaly than the norm. The prize car drew in a lot of people who don’t normally run in the contact leagues or leagues in general and they seemed to lack the race craft to drive cleanly. As for the R class league this week we will more than likely see a bit of an increase in accidents because of the higher speeds but I don’t think it should be to bad once people adjust to the cars. In my experience one thing I did see less of this week in the sim league was players dive bombing up the inside at the slightest hint of a gap, like you say though it could just be driving B class rather than a shift in attitude, we will see.
