This "ForzaRC" league is a joke

Sorry to end up posting this, but what the fire truck? I was actually looking forward to hop on today after work, pop open a beer, and enjoy the open series league (why only one and only this one for this week btw???) . First lobby I join, FULL of people ramming, using others as brakes/walls, and bumping (not the “rubbin’ is racin’” kind). Second one, same thing. In the so called “elite” series (which I want out of).

Just my .02, but if y’all wanted to run a fun competitive series to win some small prizes…you could’ve done better. How about ghost racing, rolling starts, and being able to adjust tire pressure FFS. I’m sure others could agree (and disagree). I’m not a super serious racer, but I enjoy my racing, and I love racing in leagues and rivals. Haven’t seen any worse moment than today in any league prior ether, not even in freaking hoppers!! Seriously T10, step up your damn game and use your brains and listen to the community as a whole too. I can’t be the only one irritated ether.

I know this’ll probably be locked ether because spam (yum), just because, or because I ain’t a happy camper (oh no, can’t have that here). BTW, got a replay up titled “corvette race” (don’t ask) if you don’t believe me.

If the lobby is that bad, message a forza Marshall. They can kick poor sports and clean up the lobbies.

Only problem is, it’s not just one lobby, it’s damn near almost all of them this week. It makes even the most physcotic hopper lobby look like a non-voilent peace rally. Which brings up another point brought up many, many, MANY times before: why not a damn proper vote to kick feature?

In a perfect world, I can see this working as well as T10 was expecting. But it ain’t a perfect world, now is it? I love ya T10, but you’re really starting to slack off in your Motorsport department (it’s not nearly as bad as call of duty though, so that’s a plus).

I commented about this same issue in the other league thread, but…
Messaging Marshalls isn’t the answer as they would have to boot over 50% of the room to clean it up. LOLOL😀
The problem isn’t so much people purposely wrecking or " griefing" as it is just bad driving and over aggressive driving. The latter a symptom of having races that are 3 sometimes 2 laps long. And the competitors feeling they have to win it all in the first corner. Never slowing down for an accident or someone breaking ahead of them to avoid an accident. Now throw in free prizes if you finish high enough and it has all the ingredients for disaster.
I tried two races this morning which were a mess in Pinnacle. Decided to give it a go tonight hoping for better results but it was more of the same. Had to quit out two races due to extreme damage.

They need to go to endurance type racing wth at least one quick stop per race. This would discourage a number of the more casual racers with short attention spans that can’t spend more than 2 or 3 minute per race. It would also encourage some to back off a little in the first quarter of the first lap because they know there is plenty of race left to get a win. And when there is the inevitable accident. At least you know that everyone will have to pit so you’ll have a chance to finish fairly high even if you have to pit for damage.

Unfortunately. Due to the prize aspect of it. It will draw far more participants than most league races. So in T10’s eyes it will be viewed as a success with no changes necessary to please the small minority of serious players who are just as interested in racing well as they are winning a Unicorn, car pack or some other prize.

This… 100x this. You make a super short race, no quick stop… you know what is going to happen… its a sprint and any error, hit, damage, is instant death in the race. So … Go balls out, punch your way to the front and hold on for dear life  If you want these to be actual races, make them more laps 5 - 8 laps. Yes it takes some time to race then, but you have a fighting chance even if you have a mistake or someone does accidentally hit you in the first corner. Also a quickstop neutralizes a lot of the penalty associated to taking some damage.

Who would have predicted that offering prizes in leagues would make the lobbies crashy and that shorter races leads to worse behaviour?

I mean, it’s not like we’ve seen any evidence of either of those things…

Offering codes for DLC that will be sent in an e-mail such as the car pass and the expansions have lead to pure chaos in the leagues this week even though the codes will be e-mailed to those that finish in the top half of their division. It’s not that hard to finish in the top 50% as long as one can stand a day or two’s worth of the chaotic demolition derby races. $20-30 DLCs have somehow turned many people into drivers with lots of road rage in a hurry to get somewhere quickly.

Should’ve gone for four-laps-with-Quickstop races, but hey, they didn’t, shame on them.

But the thing is, as long as you keep up with your participation (which doesn’t mean racing 24/7), you should make it in the top 50%, which is where the goodies’s at. And even just joining the league lobby, finishing one race dead-last and getting your, what is it, 100 points will qualify you for the Unicorn car. Results are, in the end, somewhat optional - unless you are approaching leagues with a result-oriented, competitive mindset, in which case - don’t, it’s simply not worth it. And hey, when you stop caring about your actual results and only think about racing cleanly, know what? The carnage is almost amusing. Try to see for how long you can avoid being plowed into! It’s not the kind of fun you’ve likely bought Forza for, but it’s still fun.

(And as I always said, if you want clean, stewarded racing - you really oughta sign up for an organized championship. It’s nought-impossible to enforce basic racing rules on public lobbies without, as King Lerxst said, banning about 50% of the people racing in any public lobby - leagues included. And truth is, for as long as there won’t be a device that will break your ribs and shatter your shins in case of impact, the entire racing game genre will be hopeless - hell, people crash stupidly all the time in iRacing, too!)

I see what you’re saying Clyde, and it’s a shame really, as I can see what Tirn 10 are trying to do with the Forza motorsportsand trying to combine proper online racing, with a highly commercial gaming title that’s been primarily aimed at the Casual Gamer for 6 iterations, plus 2 off the shoulder titles that attract the real casual gamers thet love to wreck stuff.

They want to bring proper online tournaments and Cup Racing to a title that unfortunately has far too many casual, gamers attached to it.

To get ppl re interested in the current title, while they work on the next one, they have secured a car for a prize.

Bingo, the race has instantly become a smash feast straight away.

But oddly enough, it’s offered prizes that probably 3/4 of gamers already have. The only prize no one has yet is of course Horizon 3.

But the rest is just copies of packs that 90%+ already have.

They offer the Unicorns to anyone that enters and participates in just ONE race. So everyone’s going to race, and everyone’s going to try and get to the front. It’s like a rush on a store on Christmas morning Ve to get thing that are only available that day.

It’s a shame, as the intentions are there, but sadly the execution has been not managed well.

I only hope that they can fix it,as the principle is good, and the idea behind it is well meaner. But, the question must be asked.

Can casual gamers that love nothing better than smashing multimillion dollar digital cars into walls or other drivers, just to see what happens.

Getting that mindset changed is just not going to happen…

They need a new game. A game designed with the serious racer in mind. One that will not sell as many copies, but WILL. Have a larger following in the long term, not a larger following in the short term.

It’s a bold venture. But I do see some changes that they could be implementing as the title goes ahead.

So as always its not clear cut what gives the prizes or unicorn cars.

Could someone please make it real clear what you need to do to get what

So far I have set a clean time at Monza with the Ford Mustang '15. There are 3 other time trials I have to set. Do these give the unicorn cars? And do I have to do them all, how many unicorn cars are there and is there a unicorn car for each time trial?

For the car packs, are these for the league races (i.e. crash fest) like we did in the Lambo series? I saw that for week 1, 2 and 3 are for the Porsche, Nascar and 6 car pass pack. I already own the Porsche and Nascar pack, but the 6 car pass would be quite good as I didn’t buy all the cars and packs. However do I have to compete in week 1 and 2 to qualify for week 3? Or can I skip weeks 1 and 2 and take part in week 3 for the 6 car pack pass?

Also (sorry for all the questions) how long do I have for all the time trials to be done, like I said so far I’ve just had time to do Monza (work getting in the way).

thanks

Rich

For this week Monza is the only rivals event you have to do to get the unicorn. Its a qualifying event, the top 128 move on to 1v1 races if you signed up on esl.

As far as the leagues you can participate in any or all of them it doesnt matter. You have to place in the top 50% for that particular week to get the prize. Participation in any of the leagues gives you a unicorn car.

You can see all prizes and how to get them here, as well as the schedule. FYI, the car pass is for finishing in the top 50% of this week’s Open League.

Ah cool, cheers. So the other 3 time trials, are they for the up and coming weeks?

for the top 50% (just like Lambo Huracan series so I’m familiar with how that works) do you know what the prize is, is that for Porsche/Nascar/6 car pass? or is it something different, or has it not been announced.

thanks for replying.

Its a little better today IF you can get up in top 8 to 10. Any lower down the order you’re in for a bumpy ride with people braking too late, using you as a rail for a bend or simply not wanting to be overtaken and swiping left or right on the straight to knock you off!

Again brings my point into question of how it is decided who is in what league. Yes there will be a great variation in a ability thats accepted however you’d think Elite and Pinicle would have people in it that at least know where the left trigger is or can take the fact they are being overtaken so, to me anyway, some people are in the wrong division. Just my opinion.

thank you ctrlSHIFT JP

Gave Open Series a try yesterday and, like many (most?) of you, I experienced a crash fest. After trying to race cleanly & competitively for several races (and getting smahed & crashed repeatedly), I decided to take a different approach. I now just race cleanly in the back & watch the comedy show unfold ahead of me. It doesn’t get me top notch League points, but at least I don’t walk away fuming.

I, too, had hoped there’d be improvements in this new event series and have been really looking forward to it. I appreciate that T10 recently added indicator markers to show nearby car locations in hood/bumper views. I also appreciate that new tire barriers were just added to some tracks. Sadly, these updates haven’t been enough to improve the multiplayer experience.

On a positive note, I was happy to see there are some folks that are obviously trying to run clean races. It takes a superior driver to avoid the crash fest antics. A tip of the ol’ Sp33dy hat to each of you…much respect for your skills!

Sp33dyKat

To me the answer is simple but Snowowl would get bombarded with replays…

Simply state in the faq along with the prizes are the rules. If you are caught wrecking you are punishable by a max of a lifetime ban and will be disqualified from prizes. It won’t clean the lobbies up for that event but it will put people on notice.

I’m sure tons of people would get banned but the next series may be cleaner because of it.

Last question! I promise! (maybe!)

when it says 'FM6 Car Pass DLC: week 1 Leagues Top 50% and Elite Series Grand Finals ’ what does it mean by ‘…and Elite Series Grand Finals’ ?
