thinking of the thrustmaster 458 spider wheel for forza 6, is it any good??

first off apologies as this has probably been covered numerous times…

ive got forza 6 on pre order download and im thinking of getting the thrustmaster 458 spider wheel and pedal set. now im just a casual gamer so a bit put off by the price of the the tx wheel so is the 458 wheel worth the £75 or so it costs or do i stick with the controller??

I had a spider wheel, it will work ok, but if your not going to get a good wheel then I would suggest sticking with the controller.

Don’t bother. Using a wheel without Force Feedback is worse than using a controller. Without that 6th sense of feeling where the car is trying to go, you can’t correct it. Even with hours and hours and hours of practice with the wheel, you’ll still spin uncontrollably more often than not.

My advice is just to stick with the controller until you can afford a wheel with FFB.

This is only my personal opinion so take it for what its for. The wheel is what it is, the cheapest wheel is going to help you hold a line much better then the controller. The biggest problem is the pedals, without having a load cell or a non-linear brake pedal your never going to be able to figure out the braking. Maybe thats just my problem, but 10 years of forza and thousands of hours with a controller and when I tried switching to a Wheel/Pedal setup I always always screw up my braking points with too much/too little breaking as the throw in the cheap pedals just doesn’t work for me. The wheel is the easy part, the pedals are much more important.

For me, simply getting the Speed Freek APEX helped smooth out my turning and hold better lines all for about 10$

I did suggest using a controller over the spider wheel, but as much as the spider wheel lacks compared to the tx wheel, I still preferred it to using a controller. I would get one from Amazon, and give it a try, if you ever want to upgrade you can trade it in with Amazon and put it toward a tx wheel. I already had a playseat, so a wheel is a no brainer for me.

I’ve used the Spider wheel before and it was a great wheel for the price and I enjoyed using it. That being said, I’ve gone back to controller in 6 and selling my Spider wheel. MY suggestion is like others and just wait and save up enough to get the TX. Just remember if you’re not clamping it to a desk, you’ll need to get a stand or seat as well.
