I’ve had forza 4 before i didn’t get far on it as the tuning was out of my realm and i tried coming here finding tips and hints but i really didn’t accomplish much. also i wanted to learn to drift on that bu tas i couldn’t learn to tune a drift car let alone a car for career mode. i just got rid of the game.
anyway i can learn how to tune drift cars drag cars ciricuit cars what have.
i really wanted to like forza 4 and i did but the tuning part is not good for someone who does not know a thing about tuning.
Tuning adds a lot to the game but not knowing how or taking time to learn how doesn’t take anything away from the game.
It’s really easy to download someone else’s tuning set up simply load a tune from one of the many great tuners out there. A lot leave a description of where the tune is best suited.
If you want to learn there are some great guides in the tuning forums. I’d never tuned a car before forza 5 and I’m not a gear head but I with a lot of time and reading forums I’ve been able to make some half decent tunes. There’s some guides that offer great benchmark ranges in order to get a basic set up that you should be happy wIth and others that go into great depth to inform you on what everything does.
see i tried using the tuning area with the tuining guide and watched all kind of tuning videos to me and it was still forgien language i even tried to tune and it just felt so bad and wrong. i understand its all trial. but i really don’t have the paitence or time to take months to learn to do something is there anyway to learn quicker then the normal or?
i really want to pick this up as drifting on the tracks look alot more fun then what i’m doing on horizon so.

Tuning does take patience. The best advice I can give is start with someone else’s numbers who has kindly provided their tune. Drive it and see what you think. Use worms guide to change what you don’t like. Save before making any changes and only change one thing at a time. If it’s better save it if not load previous.
The more you tune the easier and faster it is to make a tune for future cars
i tried reading worms guide last year just for tuning in career mode and i just gave up not sure if i could give it another go. i’m not all about learning before playing. i’m really not a car guy but i love racing games and tuning has always thrown me off from the motorsport series and the truismo series.
like reading worms guide none of it makes sense at all.
Tuning adds a whole new dimension to the game. It is almost an art form and does take significant time to master. Some pick it up faster than others to be sure. I myself enjoy tuning my cars and trying to get the most out of them. I’ve been working at it since Forza 2, and while I am a fairly competent tuner and can build a competitive car, I am still by no means anywhere near the best, and still rely on teammates and friends for those little extra “tweaks” that really bring the car to life.
Does this mean you can’t enjoy the game if you can’t tune? Absolutely not! There are many competitive racers who don’t have a clue how to tune. As suggested above, utilize the resources provided to you in game and here at FM.net. Spend some time on the storefront trying out different tunes. There are literally hundreds of excellent tuners in the game. Look for tunes with high downloads and good ratings, as these are usually the better tunes. Don’t be afraid to try out the lesser tunes however, as there are many pleasant surprises out there as well. When you find a tune that handles the way you like, remember that builder, as most of their tunes will be similar.
Also utilize the tuning thread here on the forum. Many tuners post their builds there. You can also ask for specific builds, and most times someone will be there to help you out. Not everyone who plays this game races. Some only paint, others only take pictures, and others really love tuning. They are usually more than happy to build a tune for you.
Ok not sure what your expecting to be different if nothing with the game has changed and you haven’t either. You don’t need to tune to enjoy it but if that’s your reason for buying it you do have to put the time in to learn. There’s guides and a massive forum with a wealth of knowledge to help you but it’s still up to you.
i just get lost wrapping my head around it all at once. i can do tires and get it to where mose of the grip is on the inside and not outside to maximize the grip but after that i get soooo lost and i want to knwo how to work the tools the game gives me seems pointless not to tune. i really want this to do the drifting its my favorte aspect about cars. career mode is decent but drifting would be the only reason i bought this and i remember using a top downloaded tune on the same track he said and it was so bad for me t hat or im not used to drifting on motorsport series. i may pick this up. its still in the air.
you could of course use one of the tuning calculators… they seem to work for a lot of people. If you really want to give the game a serious shot then add me as a friend my crew and i can help you get upto speed and give you some cars. If you’re serious then we could look at taking you in and help bring your times down we have a couple of just for fun members too, but if you really want to know how to tune well help you along as you go and if you’re really not interested in tuning then just send one of us the car you want done and well work with you to set it up to your liking.
EDIT: re read your last post, we don’t have and drifters in the club but again i can hook you up with one of the best. We can build the car with you and I’m sure hell teach you (he’s been trying to teach me but my natural instinct is to keep it stuck to the tarmac gripping so i tend to correct as soon as the back end starts to slide haha)
That sounds tempting if i can find it for the right price locally off craigslist i will add you. i’ll probably stick to career mode for quite a bit before jumping into any online modes drifting or not. when i change something i’m not sure what car behavior or characteristics change from what it default was
i tried finding some calculators but they all were wanting money or just didnt respond to email. i’m trying to ease my self away from the fifa franchise as its really the only game i’ve played the past 5 years and i dont plan on upgrading to next gen anytime soon. so i figure forza 4 would be that game i could keep and mostly likely never get tired of it until the servers are offline. so when i do go to next gen i will have a far better understanding what im doing on forza 5.
Forza 5 has a totally different physics engine if you drive and tune like you do in FM4 trust me on this your heading for a wall with 0 chance of avoiding it haha… i learned that the hard way…
but back on subject the whole point of tuning a car is to create a balance you like, regardless of whether or not its competitive as the whole idea of the game is to have fun. Well be more than happy to take you in and help you out, while my time is restricted to sunday/monday at the moment (work) my assistant has solid knowledge too especially in the lover classes where i do not.
I played FIFA up until FIFA 13 where the crashing got on my nerves, threw it out and bought FM14 for the mac haha much better than fifa’s manager play, though the board of directors does set unrealistic targets… braintree FC the target was to win the FA cup… yeah right!
I just picked it up. i’m not going to get into tuneing or drifting till i feel comfortable with the physic’s i’m going to play world tour. but i do kinda want to start learning.
