I am having MAJOR problems with cornering the Hoonigan Bel Air. Anyone else? I’ve downloaded tunes from legend tuners and those don’t even help it. It seems almost as bad as the Reliant Supervan.
Originally it was a drag car…but it was turned into a Hoonigan car…so therefore it is now supposed to be a drift car that resembles a gasser ?- are those supposed to handle?
Maybe its just a car owned by a Hoonigan representative and is not actually a drift car at all and just marketed as one in here?
Not much about it on the net
I was kinda hoping it would drift … still downloading, but this sounds dissapointing.
EDIT: after a bit of digging on the net, it turns out it never was a drag car, has no history of one. And it was not built as a drift car, Its just an old 55 purchased from an old lady, then Jon Chase built a rat rod out of it using junk parts from craigslist…sure it looks cool, but dont expect it to handle.
**Still at a loss as to why they would include a car that wont drive nice in a game that has a focus on driving…im sure Jon Chase also has a general shopping car too - they should have included it in the Hoonigan pack too!
Hoonigan aren’t just drift/dirt. They’re branching out, and have Leah Pritchett, the Top Fuel dragster driver amongst their ranks too. A gasser will NEVER handle. They’re designed to do a quarter mile and nothing more. Anything else is physically impossible due to their design and structure.
OK so I went in with the attitude that a Hoonigan car would be a drift car… so the standard drift tune went on it and made my way to the carpark. No joy found whatsoever - its as bad or worse than the Reliant which is a joke car…
After a bit of research on this car it turns out to just be one of the teams ratrods…based on a gasser drag car aesthetically.
So I assumed that maybe the devs gave it some balls for the drag strip… so the standard drag tune went on and I made my way to the strip. Nope, probably the slowest car in the game.
So as a last resort I tried a head to head race since its a racing game…LOL didnt get close to completing the race due to steering.
So what is the actual reason to include this car in the game?
Are we supposed to just simulate being one of the Hoonigan team and drive it around legally as a personal car?
Its a real shame as the car could be very popular had they have not made it handle so accurately and gave it a decent code to be driven well.
Of all the things to do accurately in this game why make the bad steering accurate?
I have Identified a glitch with the racing tires on this car too. The race tires actually subtract 0.02 grip from the stock values. While upgrading look carefully!
Its a 1955 and is based on a “gasser” class drag car - including the high riding beam axle front end. It was built with the purpose of completing the quarter mile and nothing else. Like the Reliant Robin this is a chassis that has significant and fundamental limitations.
