Hi ive been a long time Forza Motersport fan since FM2 Ive been loosing interest more and more with each release since FM5.Ive noticed most of my friends who use to pretty much only play Forza and alot of the fastest guy’s who used to hotlap and bounce around the lobbies don’t even really touch Forza anymore. For me I feel like they have blended Foza Motersport with Horizon to much and are catering to the more casual arcade racer wich makes since for sales it makes it a less intimidating game to pick up and play.Ive never played Forza Motersport for a sim racer but it was about as close as you could get on console.I guess for me I feel like the Forza Motersport I fell in love with is long gone.Maybe in the future they could implement a harcore hopper for the the class racing with less forgivng physics while also keeping the normal hoppers and target both hardcore and casual racers.Im curious about other peoples opinions that have been around through the evolution of Forza Motersport and if they still play. Also if it’s just me or do other people think there needs to be a clear divide between Forza Motersport and Forza Horizon in the last couple game releases especially FM7 I feel like im playing Horizon just on Forza Motersport tracks.
game itself is great, just missing a few modes that made it fun for many.
specifically im talking about car soccer and cat & mouse game modes, both gone since fm4.
ironically those were the only 2 modes i ever played in forza and they have been gone for years.
for actual sim racing, i do Assetto Corsa, which in terms of being an actual racing/driving simulator is lightyears ahead of forza.
with that said i still love forza for what it is, just needs car soccer to return, and cat & mouse.
No offense intended - but those are more fitting in Horizon and are definitely not motorsports by any stretch of the imagination. You sir want an arcade game you can play with a controller… not a motorsports racing game. Period.
I agree with the OP. Each iteration of the game since FM5 has been going more and more away from motorsports… and at this point it seems that MS &T10 need to either fish or cut bait (figure out the direction of the game once and for all). If they choose to continue down this road , I can say with 100% certainty that FM7 will be my last. I’d still be playing PC2 if I could paint the cars like I do here (like I did for the first 8 months of this year)… and that is THE ONLY reason why I came back - the game remains quite immersive using my own paint, with my own tune, driving in cockpit view & with a wheel. But outside of single player free play, FM7 has nothing to offer for those like myself… and we’re getting rare these days. I assume most have already left - just like you have indicated.
And hopefully, MS & T10 have been listening… maybe that’s why the release of FM8 has been put back to a later date. Time to get this game back to it’s roots and do all the kiddie stuff in Horizon… that’s where it belongs.

i know what i want, thank you very much, and i want the physics of forza, not horizon.
so just like in Forza 1, Forza 2, Forza 3, and Forza 4, i would like to play cat & mouse and car soccer.
horizon physics reach way too far into the “arcade” spectrum for my taste.
game modes have nothing to do with physics, before people start trying to get smart.
No one is trying to be smart… just observant. I refer you to your first post…
You may not like the term"Arcade racer", but wanting game modes like those makes you one… like it or not.
Sorry if the truth hurts, but no need to get snitty about it.

Those game mode have nothing to share with motorsport in my opinion.
I like the game a lot. If you want “game” things, try Horizon. I thoroughly enjoy them both (and both totally different IMO). Sure things could be different in FH7, but overall pretty good. If they can make the championship a little more interesting, it would be nice (just the same thing over and over. race, get points, next round).
Forza Motorsport isn’t exactly a serious “motorsport” game/series anyway, qualifying isn’t around yet (unless I’ve missed it).
A game mode that’s optional isn’t going to turn it into an “arcade racer” either.
dont care what you call it, i just know the physics in Forza feel more realistic than the physics in the Horizon spin-off series, which is why i prefer Forza physics.
just because you play Forza a certain way does not mean everyone plays it that way, thats why theres diferent game modes.
from the years 2005 to 2012, before there was horizon, all i ever played was cat & mouse and car soccer in Forza, dont see why i cant do the same with current Forza.
also if you claim to be such a hardcore racing sim guy, why not play a true simulator like Assetto Corsa, like i do for my circuit racing.
I never said being an arcade racer was a bad thing… it is what it is. I’m glad you enjoy your arcade events… sorry you haven’t been able to enjoy them
There you go again, being snitty. I never said I was some “hardcore sim racer” and I highly doubt I would need to play AC “like you do for your circuit racing” to enjoy good racing sim. I prefer PC2 thank you very much.
Cya later “arcade racer”. I’ve got better things to do

I’m sure the developers have way more important things to do than introduce cat & mouse and car soccer into the game.
Edit: And what do you mean by needing a more clear divide between Motorsport and Horizon? Is it the physics or some other aspect?

For me the physics would be the first thing to change I would like to see something less forgiving something more realistic the grip is just way to high for me FM4 was when Forza Motersport was in its prime between the racing and community.
for me its the physics, but i think to the other guy posting here its the game modes.
if Assetto Corsa had game modes like car soccer, that would be amazing, but its just a pure simulator so just racing and drifting on there.
Forza has always had features that arent found in any motorsport and there is no need for Forza to limit itself to just replicating what is in the real world. If Tag and Virus can be in the game, there is no reason Soccer and Cat and Mouse cant be in the game.
I hope for Forza 8 they find a good balance in the collision physics. At the moment it helps with all the tiny bits of contact, but is also being abused by those who ram you in the side to make the corner and overtake.
I came across THR Skyline who is one of the fastest people on the game, and even he was just abusing this method. When I closed the door on him he just rammed me off in the next big braking zone.
His excuse: I had no situational awareness, so he decided to give me instant karma by putting me into a tire wall.
Race regulations can’t come soon enough, even for the pro’s.
Rant over, sorry.
I feel like I put on my rose tinted glasses every time I read a thread like this. “Forza 4 was better, everything was better, blah blah blah.”
Forza 4 was grippier, easier to drive and less enjoyable in single player than this version. Yes it had more features like the storefront and clubs but it was also full of issues like constant lobby crashing, microphone cut outs, credit glitching, vote spamming, wreckers, and mandatory AWD swaps to be competitive online because they had no downside with the extreme grip every car had.
I’m not going to say FM7 is perfect but I will say it is continuously progressing towards becoming an excellent game and I thoroughly enjoy playing it most every time I log on. I’m not fighting for ownership of my tunes or blasting the auction house or saving for days to buy a 20,000,000 credit Ferrari (also DLC cars were not free and some cost well over 5,000,000 credits)
We should not cut turn10 off at the knee by saying they can’t beat their older products when I feel they have. This version has more tracks and more race cars than ever before and also has many racing oriented features like rolling starts and quick stops to add to the realism. Plus they are promising even more for free so I would stay tuned and enjoy the evolution as it progresses.
Every one has there own opinion but for me the core of the game is not getting better and that’s driving.I could care less about how many tracks we have and how many cars there are if the physics are getting worse with each release. On the topic of FM4 when you were referring to the grip level and AWD dominant cars it sound’s like you’re thinking of FM3 at least in the classes I raced it was RWD and FWD dominant.I think the vote to kick was better when the name of the person being voted showed in the lobby and you could vote yes or no it made everyone more aware that there was someone causing issues in the lobby like wrecking and if they were they didn’t last long.Ive been in lobbies recently were people don’t know how to kick out wreckers or dont care.Who knows what the lobby crashing was ever about it could of had to do with the game pushing the limits of the 360.
OP, you nailed it. Turn10 is slowly killing the motorsport in forza motorsport. Who are they trying to please?
Really what it comes down to is sales and profit what would sell more a casual arcade racing game or a more difficult sim racing game? For people like me it sucks to see Forza Motersport leaning more and more towards the arcade side.
