The big painter let down

People seem to be missing the point a little. Racers and tuners to some degree are recognised, painters are not. That is unfair. The amount if time people spend tuning and painting used to be rewarded with credits. Now it is not for most people. Some people can’t make much racing as their skills lie in painting or tuning, not driving. But now turn 10 has all but turned their back on the majority. It’s all in the cloud and they could change the rewards I’d they wanted. But they haven’t. That shows a lack of care or attention. Dan G complained he felt disconnected from his fans. Well guess what, that is running both ways. I still paint, but I’ve stopped putting them online. Why do free work to promote turn 10’s game, when they don’t reward you. Don’t give me that old lune about doing it for credits is the wrong reason. It’s how I’ve always played the game and now it’s been taken away. The racers get rewarded no matter how good or bad on a sliding scale. Painters and tuners should get the same. Not something or nothing which is what’s happening now. It’s completely skewed the community aspect of Forza. It’s sad, and it looks like the beginning of the end. I’m not being dramatic, that’s just how I feel. What happens when forza 6 drops and if these features are still missing nobody bothers? I don’t want the franchise to die off, but right now it feels like it’s on life support. Yes, next gen, blah blah adoption rates etc. Well as a first impression it’s not been great, and it should have been. It’s been good not great. That is a problem for a big franchise. Apathy spreads quickly, and as usual turn 10 communicate very little about some of the forums bigger concerns. You just get to put it in a wishlist and hope santa delivers. Cos he ain’t writing you a letter. Without feedback, devs don’t know what is right/wrong with a game, but with Dev responses we don’t even know if it’s been taken inboard, never mind actioned. As always turn remain stoutly tight lipped and it always breeds resentment on the forums. It’s usually about a two year cycle too!
In the end, if you wanna paint do it, but i don’t share mine anymore as i see little point. Sad, but true.

Falken ran their own contest, not Turn 10. Take it up with them and cook up the conspiracy theories elsewhere and please do it now.

Got my profile back now mate but i’m not getting the urge to carry on painting, bored of it.

Already done minus the last bit of nonsense.

Fully agree with you Duff. Post up pics, show your hard work off and if someone makes a criticism them work with it.

And I for one will vouch for showing my work off…when you can spend up to 50 hours working on a paint and then stand back and be proud of what you have done then you have every right to show off

PS: Miss your paints Duff…gutted you lost your save :frowning:

You must have missed what I typed.

The ice is really thin under you at the moment.

He doesn’t agree with you! For God’s sake what did he say!?

Am I the only one who notices this? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!

That the comp was rigged and Turn 10 was in on it or turning a blind eye?

You realize that’s permanent ban stuff and your post questioning an admin decision is ban worthy as well?

See where warning people gets us?

I like grapes.

OH and I agree about the painting aspect…I’ll paint my own cars, but I don’t share designs anymore there is simply no incentive. If I’m sent a message inquiring about a paint I’ll arrange to share it at a certain time so that individual can get it - because they cared enough to take the time to ask about it. That’s more recognition than I’ve ever gotten from the in-game setup.

Look, Worm is right about one thing. This is not a thread to discuss the winner of the Falken comp. This is to discuss the problem at hand which is painting. I really felt they killed the system. It used to be that the storefront was an excellent display of the free-market. If I wanted to sell you my replica of x-design then I would have to make it cheaper and better than the other painters. The problem is now that certain painters have a monopoly on certain designs. I saw an absolutely atrocious Calsonic R32 with a popular rating, then I saw others that were newer but much better. These paints were not shoved down people’s throats like the bad one was and so the bad one got used. Another example is my Blancpain Lamborghini. I was featured and now the car is hugely popular, there were other Blancpain cars to be made after mine but because mine was thrust into the limelight it cuts out the other’s. This is admittedly not fair and favors those who build quickly to those who build with quality.

How is that any different?

Your last options were
Most recent filled with everything done in the past couple days.
Most downloaded same as your comment
Top rated for whomever was spamming their own work with up votes for a week.

The only other way was to search by gamertag or key word and you can also do that now. The only difference is going to one persons store and seeing everything which I agree, should be available.

It is no different and now, at least if they enter a comp or are seen, there is a way to push them forward to you without going through.

I agree that the balance seems out of whack. The game does recognise time spent test driving in the stat screen but not time spent in the paint booth.

I don’t view the stat screen as any additional reason to test drive though.

Are we in china???

Just check out the extremely low numbers of people posting in the paint sections compared to previous games. How embarrassing for a game so many bought. That says many feel the same way.

The community aspects of the game have been slowly traded in for T10s want to have a stranglehold on the ‘economy’. User generated content with little to no reward, unless you submit to the ‘everyone wins’ lame weekly contests, pffft… Making paints and sending them to teammates is all I really care about in the end, and I can’t even do that. Taking gifting etc out is a deal breaker for many and is a big reason why I can’t get motivated anymore.

Wrong. You can make each side of the car with no numbers/names on and then SHARE it on your SF. Team mates can pick it up and put their own numbers on.

Paint large contrasting blocks on the very outer edges of each side and the user can line them up. Sorted.

If they want different colours then I am sure you will be happy to change and share for them. Why do you need to gift it? Gifting ends in spamming peoples work and I for one am glad to see it gone!

Fixed.

FM5 is a real step forward I love the way it drives and looks … but I think aspects of this game were a Microsoft experiment that went wrong at the expense of the online community(especially the designers). It seems like Turn 10 were instructed not to use the FM4 economy and interface because of the new focus on micro transactions… could this be true?
Designers deserve to be rewarded with in game credits for creating (high quality) content. In FM4 gifting designs to clubmates/friends and storefronts which showcased all you designs for multiple car models was stroke of genius (not to mention letting the player set the prices in the storefront).
I am rarely the first person to post a design when a DLC pack is released and so I usually miss out on getting a ton of easy downloads, but when I have been first to get something up it just keeps paying and conversely when I spend ages on a design is just gets buried in a useless search system.

THIS IS WRONG!!!

There should be a way to reign in bad designs and stop them being endlessly recommended. In FM4 you might get a bit of a boost before you got overtaken by the best designs… which was exactly how it should be. The FM4 system gave less skillful designers a chance to make some credits if they got in first but the ‘broken’ system in FM5 insures some players will have a heap of downloads just for being first up with a bad (or in some cases non-existent) design.

Rant over…

This is why I drive blank cars

Same here. No design or self made (If i ever get into the paint booth, and avoid the bugs that plague some cars…).

This is why I stopped painting in Forza.
