Thanks, you guys for sharing your ffb settigns. I’d pretty much given up on my G920 in FH3 except for drag racing (I just can’t clutch on the controller).
With these new sliders I’ll have to check it out!
However a lot of people are suggesting high center spring force numbers and I was just wondering the reasoning. Isn’t this less realistic as it means the wheel wants to centre itself even when the car is not in motion?
I haven’t played with the settings too much. I’m personally using a G920 and drive a lot of A-D cars
Vibration scale 73
FFB scale. 560
Wheel rotation 900
FFB under steer 50
FFB min force 50
Wheel damper scale 50
Center spring scale 0
Ffb is very subjective, everyone is different in what they feel comfortable with which is why these options are probably the greatest addition to a forza game in recent memory imo. As far as realism goes, horizon is an arcade game so i wouldnt go crazy trying to find realism. In real life front wheels do return to center due to caster, this game doesnt simulate that naturally so i do run a low center spring personally but not 0. Depending on playstyle a higher center spring would help when drifting for instance.
Vibration 11
FFB scale 55
Dor 900 (lower as needed)
FFB understeer 0
FFB min 25
Wheel damper 50
Linearity 50
Center spring 10-20 cant remember
Higher center spring definitely helps with feeling how much slip you’ve got when drifting. I haven’t paid attention to what it does when the car is stationary, though. It mimics the front wheels real life tendency to point forward, not necessarily straight. For instance when sliding around a left turn, the front wheels naturally want to turn right to match the angle of the slide so they’re pointing in the direction the car is actually going.
I find it helps when racing as well, since it’s much easier to tell if the back end has broken loose and by how much. It’s a lot easier to catch slides and correct them.
Thanks Dan (and everyone else) for sharing your wheel setups and the new in game settings. I decided to try Dan’s setup because I have the exact same Fanatec wheel (CS V2 base, CSL P1 rim, V3 pedals with brake mod kit) after several hours of playing (with A to X class cars) with Dan’s setting as a base I decided these settings were just to strong for my playing style. The Fanatec CSL P1 wheel is quite a bit lighter than other fanatec wheels due to it not needing the xbox one universal hub. I believe the FFB translates stronger to this wheel because its a lightweight wheel. So below is what I came up with that feels really good to me, it’s a mix of circuit race with the ability to catch a slide and drift while racing if you choose.
Steering 0-100
Steering Lin 47
Acceleration 0-100
Deceleration 1-100
Clutch 10-100 ( Not sure why but it seems I don’t miss 2nd gear as often with inside set to 10)
E-Brake 0-100
Vibration 55 to 65 (Tarmac/Off road)
FFS 35 to 45 (car dependent)
WRA 540 (couldn’t do 360 just to touchy around the center for me)
FFU 35
FFMF 30
WDS 30
CSS 120
Wheel settings
Sen Auto
FF Auto
Sho 30
Abs 55
Lin, Dea Off
Dri Off for circuit race, 1,2 or 3 depending on how much I’m going to be drifting
Brf 40 to 55 depending of car used.
If anyone gets a chance to try these settings please post your thoughts and any tweaks you made to fit your own playing style. Happy Holidays and keep the drinking and driving on the Horizon map.
Thanks for posting your settings, I am looking forward to trying them out tonight! I have been tinkering a lot with my settings as of late and I do agree with you on my settings. It seems every time I find a setting ( after a long playing session) I come back the next day and they don’t feel as good as when I last used them. I then adjust some setyings and do done more tinkering and get a good setting… Till next time I play. LOL plus it seems to change a lot with different cars as well. It makes me glad I have 5 presets to use😃 I will let you know how I like your settings and again thanks for posting.
Im using a G920 and this is Pretty much almost exactly where I’ve landed as well after much tinkering.
For the first time ever in Forza I’m even finding sim steering beneficial, Be great if they added this update to FM6!
I tried these settings out last night And while the 900 degrees will take some getting used to, I like how you can actually feel when the front starts to break loose. It’s a great start.
VERY GOOD base settings well done my man! I got my TX & Playseat out for the 1st time since getting sick of Project Cars (its been a long while) and I’m really quite impressed. The FFB is a huge leap ahead of FM6 and suits the ‘semi arcade’ style of Horizon 3 perfectly. Big up to the devs on this one for sure. Has everyone upgraded their TX’s firmware to 50.B9? Just a tip if your not aware.
When the game 1st came out I had a great ffb setting for my thrustmaster tx but then they patched it and it all went to pot. A few patches later and your settings as a base line. I’m back to burning up the Australian outback. I’m still finding most cars seem to understeer a bit too much but I think that’s just down to the game, played with a wheel.
This is the 1st forza game I’ve actually exclusively played with the wheel. Hopefully they’ll get it right with forza 7
Thanks for these settings! I am bad at drifting any way, but after trying all night to get 3 stars on one of the PR stunts, I changed my settings to this and I got it the first time. then I did a few others also to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. I still suck at drifting though.
I can hold a decent drift with the wheel but when it comes to beating the drift challenges I couldn’t do it with the wheel. Had to use the controller. LOL
Vibration 11
FFB scale 55
Dor 900 (lower as needed)
FFB understeer 0
FFB min 25
Wheel damper 50
Linearity 50
Center spring 10-20
A word of advice when it comes to ffb, less is more many people like to pump everything up to the max in games but theyre not helping themselves out. Ffb works like a speaker, if you raise the volume too high the bass will always drown out the trebile. You also dont want the wheel to overpower your hands, it wont ever end well.
If you really want to find whats right for you, itll take some time but shut off vibration and then turn understeer ffb, ffb minimum and center spring to 0. Keep ffb around 50 and just drive around either in free roam or better yet pick a track you like with variable terrain.
Individually test understeer ffb, ffb min, center spring and then turn on vibration so you have an idea of what they actually do. You can then see what kind of feedback helps and hurts your particular driving style.
Like i personally dont need understeer ffb because i can see that im not turning and heading for a tree. Id rather keep the ffb more focused and not overwhelmed by multiple effects happening at once. The same goes with vibration for me, it can be jarring sometimes and doesn’t really add anything to the driving experience, more times than not itll just jerk the wheel and slow you down.
Steering linearity should stay at 50 unless theres a deadzone problem with your wheel. Damper smooths out the forces, with a lower number being smoothest but also weakest. Its a personal preference, it wont degrade your performance no matter what you choose. I found 50 to be fine, but if you choose a higher ffb strength you may want to smooth it out a bit.
I set this up about a week ago, bumped the understeer and center spring up a bit but really liking this setup!
I also picked up Dirt Rally and did a few stages last night without messing with settings. That game is fun! Certainly challenging… the force feedback for sure feels different and it took a little getting used to. I felt like it required way more wheel input as far as turning goes. It’ll be hard to bounce between both games it seems.
What kind of wheel do you have? I ask because if you have a Fanatec wheel they have 5 preset saves that you can change on the fly. If you like 900 rotation for drifting and 540 for racing you can change them instantly without even leaving the game, just pause and change setting and un-pause.
I really, really hope Scorpio is Rift capable. I’ve been itching to upgrade my pc to run it since I got Assetto on pc for Christmas. Would be nice to be able to use it on console as well.
You can adjust the TX on the fly as well. Just hold the mode button and press left or right on the d-pad to cycle through 4 different rotation settings.
Dirt does seem to require more input, that’s why I knock my d.o.r. down a notch when I play it. I need to just get used to 900° though.
