I haven’t posted on here for a long while because I had become disillusioned with the direction T10 had taken with the series. I won’t repeat the issues I felt FM6 had because they are documented many times by me and others already on this forum.
So I popped on FM6 the other day and was surprised by an update. I was then not just surprised but amazed when I read that the update had added the ability to re-order the starting grid in private lobbies. This is great news for me and my friends because we can finally start up our league racing again. It was the fact that we had to previously do a rolling lap to get everyone in league order and couldn’t handicap with roll off delays that led to the league ending and all of the guys stopping playing FM6 (and vowing never to buy a Forza game again I would add).
I’m hoping we can get the league going again now and from T10’s point of view, hopefully bring back other disillusioned gamers and reverse the “I won’t ever buy a Forza game again” attitude. Most of the friends on my list have been made through league racing so this is definitely a step in the right direction for me.
Now, not that I’m wanting my cake and to eat it, but please (even if it’s only in FM7) allow us to race against more than 5 AI opponents online - I still don’t understand the reversal of the ability to do that - with the ability to change the opponent cars. We can then do some epic tailored races with full grids.
Yours faithfully and feeling a little more optimistic about the future of my beloved Forza.
Disillusioned is the fact that people are applauding t10 for adding a feature that should be included in a racing game to begin with (qualifying). It amazed me that people get so impressed when turn 10 does 1 thing that they should have been doing for ages.
This to me is like someone offering you a bowl of cereal then you ask them for milk, they ignore you until the bowl has a single piece of cereal left in it, then they offer you milk and you are so pleased that they finally made the offer you don’t care that the bowl should have had milk from the beginning.
Somehow the spin on this that they are the hero is impressive and Ive only seen the likes of Verizon wireless do this sort of backwards marketing.
Verizon We are now offering you a new data package!
Customer: But, I currently have unlimited data.
V: Well if you’d like the upgrade that we already promised you when you signed up with us you need to switch to one of our new, better data packages.
C: Why is this data package better? Is it faster?
V: No but its new and limited and will allow you to use your upgrade!
C: You mean the upgrade that i was under the impression was mine when i bought my initial plan?
^ think of that but replace data package with grid ordering or qualifying feature.
Lol, great analogy and you are absolutely right in my opinion. However, whilst we are very quick to criticise, I think we should also applaud when a step in the right direction is taken, whether it’s overdue or not.
Applauding mediocrity does not help the subject being criticized. Would you consistently award your child for bringing home c’s when you know they are capable of a’s? The saying is “Strive for perfection, settle for excellence” not strive to be average, settle for complete garbage.
Clearly we will disagree on the matter, which is absolutely fine of course. I just think a little more positivity in the world isn’t a bad thing but I appreciate your frustration with the series. Here’s hoping they get both of our desires resolved in due course.
There are still cockpit FOV issues with some cars, along with car specific visual bugs as well as a night driving headlight bug at Spa and VIR that has yet to be addressed. Perhaps in the next CU? Here’s hoping.
Also, the sound of wind rushing past your car in replay viewing is annoying (hit the straights in Lemans or Daytona where you’re approaching 300 km/h) - this was introduced only after one of the CU from last year. That wind noise sound you should only be hearing while driving and even then, it should be a little more audible, rather than the sub woofer just giving off a faint rumble.
I highly doubt that there will be any updates for that sort of thing, at all, to 6. The only thing I see them addressing in the game will be tweaks to the online stuff for E-sports. With the Forza 7 reveal just around the corner, 6 is virtually dead for any updates, other than what I said above. And that is only for trouble shooting those features to get them ready for 7.
It’s all great and peachy that they added these extra features into the game without addressing issues like lobbies lagging and crashing (which they do a lot), the lobby chat that doesn’t work for some and mutes others, the lack of any sort of moderation for cheaters or wreckers, and more. So yeah, it’s great that they are doing these spectator features and private lobby features when the rest of the game has serious issues that it’s had from the jump and have never been addressed with any degree of seriousness.
There hasn’t even been leaderboard wipes from the last time they added in new tire barriers to a track that change the clean racing area.
Normally I would agree with the OP that change is good but this feels like they are trying to put the polish on a crashed car without fixing it first.
LOL’d at the analogy, but T10 aint no Verizon. Verizon is an international conglomerate Completely different level of supply/demand mechanism! - I got the point though.
But nothing wrong with showing a little appreciation, it is better than just ignoring it when they at least try to do something.
I’m pretty sure if they could do it all, they would.
