Anyone else noticing serious issues with traction control in forza 6? It’s completely different from forza 5. Verifiable by picking the same high powered car in both games and doing a few laps.
It feels like it recognizes the tires slipping and over brakes the car. Forza 5 felt more proactive where forza 6 seems to react after the fact and then over compensate which in some vehicles makes it undriveable.
I hadn’t noticed it, because I don’t use traction control, but based on what you’re describing, it sounds like traction control behaves more realistically now. Traction control and ABS in video games are often more effective than they really should be, because the computer knows when you’re about to get wheelspin/brake lock and can act preemptively and in exactly the right amount. Real TCS/ABS can only react to what is already happening and is usually programmed to err on the side of safety rather than maximizing performance.
So, kudos, I guess, to Turn 10 for making traction control into the lap-time-destroying soul-sucker it really is.
Hehe, I just set a 6th place division time in a Formula E, on Road America full. I was just being lazy, and just wanted to get through it, so I turned on TCS\ABS\STB.
Normaly I would expect a slower time, but either I just spontaneously became a Formula E god, or the assists made it easier to go fast. I’m going with the latter, but take from that what you will.
Interestingly, if I run with just TCS\ABS, my place drops back into the 100s plus range, where I would expect it to be. I don’t really drive much above B or C classes, and anything higher translates to times all over the place.
So, I don’t really know what to think about TCS quite yet. By itself doesn’t really bother me feel wise, but things start feeling a bit too easy for what I’d expect when combined with STB\ABS.
I drive with the xbox controller so when using some high powered cars (koennigseg <sp?>) it was easier to race and avoid burnouts on sharp corners with tcs on.
An update to this… I tried racing the same car in free race mode with tcs and had no problem at all. Switch to online mode and the issue persists. My theory is that lag is messing up the resolution of the throttle on the controller causing sudden spikes to throttle input which then causes traction control to overreact
The TCS system in this game is completely different from that of any other Forza.
For example I was just in a race on the Alps and I had ONLY TCS on because the Mustang is just so tail happy with only STM on, so I thought it would be beneficial for that matter.
I come to notice that after a little sliding and then literally with no steering input and no brake input and just trying to muscle out of a corner the car still recognizes that something terrible is about to happen and it will continue to hold the brakes and seriously turn you right into a wall, there’s just no fighting it. I’ve never felt TCS so intrusive until this Forza. It will literally keep applying brakes until either you rewind and go at the corner more carefully (slower) or just plain up hit the wall.
Not to be pedantic but TCS does not apply the brakes that’s what STM is for. Do you drive with STM on? If so turn it off as it is absolutely pointless and will slow you down with zero benefit.
Striball - It was the STM that was applying the brakes
I typically only run TCS on certain cars and very high classes - I always start off without it ( adjust accel Diff if having an issue ( or soften springs) and I am finding it easier then ever to run without TCS on. I think I only put it on the 908 and that’s because I couldn’t tune the car. There are a few persons tunes that if I was in a race I would probable like to place it on (they are a little more adept then I at throttle control it seems) but FM6 has overall been 99% no TCS for me and I was almost always TCS on from S class up in FM5
