Syncing data fails to complete

Hi,

TL:DR… My data won’t sync with cloud, tried everything. Lost local save, need cloud save or will lose all progress. Am I going to have to delete my cloud save to play online again, as without data sync, only play offline is available.

Full version…

I am on the preview dashboard and am using the Windows 10 NXOE dash.

I recently had a problem connecting to Xbox live but still fancied a quick few laps, so played offline. Next time I went to boot, it said it needed to sync data with the cloud. I accepted however after progressing at a very slow rate (iro 1% / 10 seconds) it failed at around 70%.

I retried around 6 times, each time failing at anywhere from 50-70%. A network test showed no problems with the connection. I selected play offline, however this started a new game and has overwritten my save! I turned off at this point and went to bed.

Upon restarting the game the next day, I got a message cloud save data was different to local data. The cloud data appears to be the full save file however I still couldn’t sync the data after repeated efforts. I have tried deleting local saved profile, and done a complete hard reset of all my equipment and it still fails between 50% and 80%. I wasn’t hugely far into the game but this has knocked my enthusiasm somewhat thinking I may have to restart the whole game again. I have the option to play offline with the new profile but cannot use any online functionality.

Sorry to go into such length but I wanted to make sure it was clear this wasn’t my first port of call and I have tried over the last 5 days to get this working, having eliminated every option other than delete my cloud save. It may be that this is an issue with the new dash, or can be rectified via an alternate means of recovering the cloud save, so if anyone has had the same issue or knows a workaround please advise.

Thanks in advance

Edit: Thanks to whoever moved my post to the right section!

The progress of syncing is BETA. Not a game issue. Please report this problem as appropriately noted in the beta build announcement, and file through the dashboard mechanism, too.

We need to differentiate between the “normal” game operation and that of being run on a beta platform, and go to the proper source (beta forums) for the information on Known Issues and their (not the game producer) suggestions for a solution.

Thanks, exactly what I needed to know. Never had to use cloud save recovery so wasn’t sure if it was a game fault or not. Have logged error via dashboard and in process of copying this post across.

Excellent! I don’t know if you remember early days of “beta” software on PC’s or not, but we blew up a lot of hard drives and did a lot of reinstalling before we learned how to “divide” a hard drive in the DOS days (called “partitioning” later) and the warnings came out, “Do Not Use on a Production Computer.” I was lucky enough to have a kind sole spend 90 minutes on the phone with me (his name was Bill something) on DOS 1.x, and I learned how to set aside a portion of my gigantic 40 MB (yes, megabyte) hard drive for testing.

Unfortunately, with an Xbox One it is all “production” though we need to realize signing up for a beta is naturally troublesome. In some cases, it is better to wait for the extensive trails and tribulations to end with the issuance of the next publicly released update to the One.

BETA = Break (almost) Every Thing Always

I was never that technical, my knowledge goes as far back as a bit of basic and early dos. I remember my first PC was a P75… 75MHz of pure power lol! We used 486’s at school too, it’s a privilege to have experienced almost every stage of the evolution of computing.

I have no problem with the beta being problematic at times, unlike some who treat it as an early access program that should be bug free… I’ve been actively seeking out and recreating faults and reporting everything. I am also a Windows insider! Have reverted back to vanilla Win 10 though because I’m down to just one working laptop now and can’t risk bricking it. Loving the whole experience though, the only issue that’s really hurt was losing my FM6 save. Here’s hoping my loss saves someone else’s data!

And thanks for the quick reply, is a surprisingly tough problem to find answers for in the knowledge base.
