Straight Cut Gears sound when driving most cars

I have noticed that most if not all cars have a straight cut gear sound in the interior of the car. The sound can’t be heard outside the car but I have no idea why it’s there in the first place.

Could it be that you have the difficulty settings set to “manual with clutch”, but are not using the clutch when shifting gears?

I am driving with manual clutch settings and the grinding sound comes up when i shift without the clutch or get the timing of the clutch wrong.
This sound only comes up in interiour view indeed.

That is rather different thing. He meant that whine from gears. Race trannys make that noise. At least some of them.

There is this sound but it’s very faint in most stock cars. When you upgrade the transmission, it’s more audible, because it’s a racing gearbox.

Actually, audible transmission noise was one of the more requested things in Forza Horizon, along with changing engine sound with exhaust upgrade (which we don’t have yet).

Sport grade transmissions or higher have straight-cut gears. In older Forza Motorsports titles they would include detailed descriptions to all upgrades to show you exactly how and why those upgrades improved performance. For example, Race fuel upgrades told you the car was re-tuned to run on racing fuel and equipped with a crash-proof bladder (that’s why the thumbnail image of a Race fuel upgrade shows a replacement tank).

It’s not just race cars. It’s stock cars as well. And it gets very annoying hearing the straight cut gear sound in a normal Laferrari or an Audi R8 for instance.
