Turn 10 are you actually trying to lose your fan base on purpose?
The Forza Motorsport franchise always used to be a racing sandbox. A game where you can take hundreds of cars, from silly little hatchbacks to SUVs to sports GTs and then real race cars, and set up your own custom races pitting various cars against each other.
My favourite thing to do in Forza 4 was to create “legendary” rivalry type races, where I put a BMW M3 vs Audi RS4 vs C63 AMG type setup (and all the other rivalry combos you can imagine). But since the Xbox One generation this ability has been removed.
This is disgusting. And after all the fuss we kicked up on here, Twitter and Facebook to all the top Turn 10 guys after the Forza 6 launch, they added divisions in F6 (which were broken and half the cars weren’t assigned to them) and now in Forza 7 we STILL CAN’T PICK THE AI CARS?
Why not??? Why can you not add the simplest little feature that can create so much joy and replayability to the game? And now I hear there are no AI cars in multiplayer? What the hell man? What the hell.
I mean…just look at this post…800 replies and 48 000 views…and they ignored us:

Well, you say 800 replies and 48,000 views… How many of those replies were repeat posters?
If there were 48,000 views, does that mean that 47,200 didn’t agree? I mean, they didn’t even bother to post “ditto” or “+1” or “me too”.
I don’t know… spending 15 minutes to add individual cars to 23 drivatars doesn’t sound like much fun to me.
I think adding the fuzzy dice to the rear view mirror or the hula dancer on the dashboard is much more important than this.
Well, that’s just my opinion, I could be wrong…

I was part of that thread back in the day.
You can now choose cars for Drivatars, but it is a little bit limited, but better than it has been this generation.
The method was posted by myself on these forums a couple of times.
Here is one place I have posted the method:
https://forums.forza.net/turn10_postst110029_-Free-play--Unable-to-customise-the-race-with-specific-models.aspx
I have done precisely the race you described, M3 vs RS4 vs C63. I have done many other similar races.
Get familiar with Freeplay, Divisions (hint Open Division is your friend), Buckets and all the extra filters.
There is a good game underneath it all but it takes time and experimentation to get to it. It’s really clunky, but it’s workable and when you get on track and are driving, it’s awesome.
Please tell me how to set up A700 drivatars, not stock. I find when I set open division it just resets everything I’ve set and sets class to Any. Can’t figure the use for it.
Everytime you go back into race setup, it defaults the division back to Any for some reason and loses settings, so you need to check your settings everytime you open up Race Setup again. It’s frustrating, I think I posted in Tech Support about this, not holding my breath for a fix.
But if you choose Division Open , then go through all the other settings and get them right, it will work. It’s been working great for me.
Also always set the Division first. If you change division after doing other settings or change race type, the other settings could be reset to default.
A700 not stock should be fine. Don’t change Allow Upgrades to No, leave it at Yes.
It was worth a try. It placed me with 22 Porsche 959’s, which is A700 stock. Thanks for the reply. Your info definitely helps with other areas of free play.

Yeah you could try setting a couple of extra buckets and put some further conditions on drivetrain, cylinders, country, aspiration and some other things to give a bit of variety between the buckets.
It’s a lot of setup though.
It would likely split the field a bit between three other cars but perhaps better than 23 identical ones hehe. Anyway we’re getting a bit more than we had before.
Oh cool thanks Raindancer. Will have a look at the buckets
Also someone changed the heading of my forum post. The level of censorship on this forum is concerning.
