Hey everybody. I know a lot of people use the steering wheel to race with. I am thinking about switching to the steering wheel But I don’t know if I want to waste my money like I did on Forza 4. Just could not get my arms around it was faster with the controller. How is the steering wheel on F5? Got a bunch of questions that hopefully somebody can answer
Can I still use manual with clutch?
And if so how
Will I have to re-tune all my cars? I’m guessing yes
What is the best way to hold it or mount it?
Is there more than one type available?
I would greatly appreciate any feedback.
Thanks. SteeL
If you want the wheel to be faster, you probably won’t. If you want it to have fun and a more sim type of feeling it’s great for that. You can still use the a button for clutch.
actually with the newest firmware update on the thrustmaster tx wheel, you can enable auto clutch. so you just shift using the paddles as u would with manual and it applies the clutch for u.
Well, not really looking for a more fun aspect, just thought with a new system that the wheels would be much better. Using paddle shifters would be cool, and I think having actual peddles for throttle and breaks, I could be better at feathering. Concerned that the steering part would still be twitchy and the wheel would have too much play in it.
I own the TX and had the Microsoft force feedback wheel on 360. The TX is amazing compared to the MFFB wheel. You won’t be close to your controller times when you start but as with every thing practice makes you better. I can barely drive with the controller now.
-Clutch, questions have been answered.
-Retune, probably some. Break pressure would be the big thing.
-Mounting, best way is to bolt it to a table or a rig.
-Types, Thrustmaster has 2. The TX is force feedback and upgradeable. The Spider is neither of those. Mad Cats has a force feedback 1.
